  1. Raising the compresion is NOT good for making more HP in a turbo engine. 8:1 is ideal on most turbo engines. There is only one true way to make big hp with a turbo engine, A BIG TURBO! lots of boost. Cams might be good for 10-20hp, not worth the hassle. Pull that turbo off and put a vf22 on there. With enough fuel 300whp is very possible. Prolly wont last long at that hp level.

  2. Gtechs can be somewhat accurate but they can also be manipulated into displaying a faster number. If I tilt my Gtech I can easy get a 11 sec run in a stock Escort. So many factors can make a Gtech reading false, unlevel road, suspension sag in rear, wheel spin. A dyno wont lie neither will a run at the track. Anyway what is a 15 sec Gtech time gonna prove??? that you have 300whp....I dont think so. Are you comparing this XT to a 2.2l AUTO LEGACY?? If thats the case i can see how it might feel fast.

  3. So you are saying all EA82t run rich???? Even ones with 9.5:1 CR and free flowing intake/exhaust and more boost. You are only putting down 99whp, maybe 15hp more then stock, There is something majorly wrong and if you dont want to put a wideband on it to tune your fuel curve you can have fun blowing it up. Detonation rarely happens at high rpms and if it does its because of a lack of fuel or way too much timing. All you have to do is invest in a $300 wideband and tune your engine. Maybe then you wont need race gas to put down 99whp.

Blowing raw fuel out the exhaust IS NOT a sign of running rich!

I wasnt aware you didnt have an intercooler either, please measure your charge temps and post your findings!

Myxalplyx is right, a little know tuning fact is over rich can cause high egt's and DET. But i highly doubt this is WJM problem!

  4. Did you wideband the car on the dyno. I am guessing the car is running lean. Try backing off timing by 2 deg's if that doesnt help then i would say its running lean. Try getting a FPR and cranking up fuel pressure a bit, or a rrfpr. Egt isnt the best tuning tool, many things can cause high egts and who is to say what is too high. 1550-1600 about a inch from exhaust port is pretty hot. A wideband is a much better tuning aid! An air/fuel gauge is useless, dont bother.

  5. Marnix, The EJ207 was used from MY99 on.

The OD/CD argument is completely a waste on time on any suby making less then 350hp. A OD EJ engine will run everyday 350hp for 100k miles any never have an issue. Just look at all the stage 3/4 wrx's. Do i think the CD EA engine will run 350hp for more then a week, NO WAY. There is soo much more in the engine design then the deck design that make it realible at high hp levels, and over the years subaru has fixed many of those issues. The EJ22T block can be a wicked engine with forged pistons and DOHC heads. Although if you run a high clamp pressure clutch you will kill the thrust bearing in no time. Just one of the many issues fixed in the phase II blocks.

  6. All stock fpr's are 1:1, so that is for every pound of boost the fuel pressure increases a pound. A 2:1 will increase fuel pressure by 2 psi for every pound of boost. The TD04, vf11 and similar turbo has to be modded slighty to fit the stock up-pipe. Its easier to oval out one hole then it is to change the up-pipe flange. If you ask Dennis nicely he might be able to take a pic of his modded vf11 turbo. Any wrx downpipe will work, the HKS is $140 new. I have some real concerns about fuel. An inline pump and fmu would help. A cold start or AIC would work good and be inexpensive. Anyone ever have a wideband on these EA82t engines?

  7. I would have been well over 110mph in the 1/4 and i never had it that fast. You need alot of faith in your own welding and engineering to drive that fast in a high power junkyard heap. Plus the cops frown upon cruising those kinda of vehicles on the roads, not saying they could catch me :D

  8. I made something like that, only difference is i used a built ej25 making 200+hp mated to an EA 5 speed 4x4 trans. It lasted about a summer of insane abuse before it pounded the rod bearings to hell. Now the cart is powered by a WEAK 118hp fuel injected EJ18. It wont pull wheelies in second anymore:D

  9. You need to explain how you are getting more fuel. An oil cooler doesnt richen your mixture. Calling Subaru's "Jap Crap" wont make you any friends on a Suby board. You state many times that this is your first subaru you worked on. I have been building Subarus for more then 10 years and have done actual testing on these car so i know what does and doesnt work. One thing that doesnt work is a tiny tiny tiny intercooler 1/2" above a 1500deg turbo that gets NO air flow, that doesnt work!! You are heating your charge more then you are cooling it. Another thing that doesnt work is the stock turbo at 17psi. EGBP are double what your charge pressures are. Do you have a egt gauge? wideband? Have you measured EGBP and charge tempatures at 7psi and then at 17psi? What mods have you done to the turbo to get 17psi? How are you adjusting your air/fuel mixture? There are ways to do these things but you just have no clue. If you wanted help from us you are going about it all wrong. Dont post BS dynos and BS claims then expect us to help you.
