[Outback Woes...]

I bought my 2000 outback in march of 2000......early on i had it in for brake problems .....most of it was squeling noise......I am in sales and do not buy a car to baby it......I have 115,000 on mine and had to replace the leaking head gasket and still have problem with poor milage......I am told the o2 sensors in relation the a catalytic converter problem is possibly to blame......but other than that I can not complain about the quality of my sooby......having the head off i had the chance to look into the cyclinder and the cross hatch hone marks were still in tack.....that impressed me.....for all of the cars shortcomings i do believe that the engine design is still worth fighting all the other crap for ......just my cent and a half

found the leak on my head gasket at the rear of the driver side head......last head bolt on the bottem was loose.....it just happens to be at a spot that can not be seen because of the engine mount crossmember......and the smell is sickening when it gets sucked in.....good luck

was at a suby dealer getting parts today and I asked the guys about the head gasket warrenty deal of the day......they told me they thought that the warranty would extend to 80,000 miles on 98 and up............just an fyi for what it may be worth

if i recall it was in late 2000 or early 2001 ......my car was purchased in march of 2000......I dont know the extent of the recall and I was informed by mail.....I still believe that it is an o2 issue for fuel milage.....but the cost of getting a new one is prohibative.....I was told 500$

would be worth a try to pull all the line from stem to stern and ck for occlusion.....if it is oem.....the hose will get brittle and begin to flake crack an collapse......could have little black hose particals in the nozzle.....take airhose and reverse blow with hose disconnected

have 2000 legacy outback....had it since new

has 111,000 miles

had mpg prob 2 yr ago and was told nothing was wrong .....when i got home from the dealer i had a recall on the O2 sensor......fixed the prob.....but has been slowly declining in mpg for awhile.......did a tune up and put new bosh plugs in and K&N filter.......lost 3mpg........Just got done replaceing my leaking head gasket and put a std. airfilter back in to see if that would help .....didnt do much...........anyone have any experience or ideas
