So my uncle's got this 2003/2004 WRX that he leased and then bought. He's 77 and an experienced fast driver. From Lakeview to Ontario he let me drive. This car is just too stinkin easy to speed in, I had a hard time keeping it under 80 (My Soob: 65hp, his Soob: 227) So anyway I'm doing my best to resist the urge to open it up (knowing uncle Lee would be totally fine with it didn't help) until we get to this straight as far as the eye can see and he says "Now would be a good time to go fast/go 100/ something like that" So I did! I kept it down until 123mph and broke my personal speed record. It had waaaay more left in it but there was a curve ahead.
Oh yeah and that speeding part was all done on a closed course, of course.
awesome dude! The fastest speed you've ever gone is 123mph? Granted that's fast but I've done 163mph on my 99 GSXR 750 using a satelite speedo wich is withing 1mph accurate. That's fast and scarry as hell lol, my friends done 206mph on his Busa

I wont know till i see it in person. Its going to be the same as stock, as the lift kit raises the body off the drtivetrain. What it does allow for is a better aproach/departure angle and larger tires.
I will think about the tires once these wear out. They have 1/2 their life left.
nipper
So it was a body lift? seems wierd to make the body higher and leave everything else the same height. Still looks realy nice.

Will this jdm BD5 front bumper fit my year? this is the front bumper I desire for my leg wagon:
I also was wondering if this BD5 rear bumper trim would fit cause I need it too:
thanks. I'm curious because I came across this picture and it's definatly my car with a bd5 bumper. were these bumpers on GT's or something? or just the japanese legs???
*what my car will look like lol.

I have a 1996 Legacy Brighton 5 speed for reference.
I've got some major drivetrain issues. First, my steering wheel wobbles left to right at low speeds. I think this is due to the torn CV boot and resulting screwed up CV joint.
If your steering wheel wobbles it could be due to a seperating tire/bulge int he tire, have you looked ovet the tires?
Next, I think I have torque bind. All the tire are the same size and seem to have the same amount of tread left, but one is a completely different brand. The car make a whirring noise as speed increases and the car kind of pulsates when I make a corner at speed. Nothing noticable at lower speeds and no dificulty turning.
Once again check the tires.
I was thinking about replacing the CV Joint/Boot, getting 4 new tires, replacing the diff fluid and tranny fluid with Amsoil Severe Gear. If this doesn't solve things, what else will I need to replace?
replace the cv joint reguardless but also check the tires for any abnormalitys, if there indeed is something wrong with a tire replace all 4.

I'm assuming they're be hard to find for a 95 Leg wagon also eh.

never bought an oem filter, never buy parts from dealers unless it's the only place to get the part lol.

lol k, I've just been doing donuts lately with all of the rain and I dump it in first to get a good spin off, I've only done it in rain or in soft dirt.
-
So dumping the clutch in first to "launch" or do a lil burn out is really bad for the awd? I thought it's made to withstand such abuse.
-
It monsoons over where I live and where I work we have a parking lot the length of 2 football fields that no one parks in = drifters paradise lol. When it's rained I've taken out the wagon for some doughnuts and I've notice drifting/sliding in an awd car is the ultimate in drift handling, I can do figure 8's like nothing and is feels liek I'm gliding not trying to slide. It'svery controlled but I also notice doughnuts are big in an awd car not tight.

I currently have the 95 EJ22 w/ 249k miles under the hood of my leg, I am 100% dedicated to transplanting a turbo motor once the 2.2 dies but I am stuck on wich turbo motor I should use and would be the easiest to swap, would the EJ22T be a direct swap and if so could I use the wiring harness in the car or do I need to switch the wiring with the brain?
-
Haven't used it in a year( doesn't get hot in Vancouver often) so I was thrilled when I switched it on today and had cold air blow in my face:)
Not bad for an 16 year old car with the original AC!
By the way, it's 36 deg C right now (97 F) UGH!!!
Nothing else, just felt telling someone:)
it was 106f here today, you''re lucky.
My A/c blows cold but byt he time it gets to my body it warm lol.

WHat? where did you get that from this thread?
I figured the VC thing would overheat wich is the cause of the torque bind. Driving 700 miles @ 80-90 mph for 7 hours straight wouldn't overheat the VC?
-
Ok so basically nip you're saying a manual awd subaru isn't good for cross country trips? cause I live 700 miles away from my parents and I plan on driving there once a month to be with family.
-
This is weird and i've never experienced this in any other manual transmission vehicle before.
2000 OBW, 76k miles, manual trans:
Whenever I back up on a hill there's this horrible smell, like burning carpet.
I'm 99.9% sure it's the clutch because it happens consistantly at my friends house who has a horribly disfunctional driveway and in order to turnaround to leave you have to point down a hill then backup (3-pt turnaround). That's when I smell that smell- right after backing up the hill.
I also have issues in the morning, when the clutch is still cold, when I take off the car shudders. No matter what I do, how I feather the clutch, more gas less clutch, less gass more clutch, nothing helps until the car warms up then it's not as bad. I realize theres a TSB on that "clutch judder" but I'm wondering if this contributes and/or is related to the smell mentioned above.
It doesn't even smell like burnt clutch either- like i said, it's like burnt carpet or something...
it's really weird.
Sounds like it's the hill holder. I disconnected mine because it was a PITA so back up on hills and having to rev the crap outta the motor to move wasn't my thing.

What's wrong with this picture?
You took it with a crappy camera phone and now we're stuck trying to figure out that nothing's wrong in the blurry picture and you're getting a kick out of this..
It's what I'm sticking to until I get an answer.
I'll say it again.
-
I was about to say look at your wiring for frayed or chewed through parts int he insulation.
We have plenty of pack rats here and they tend to make thier homes in the engine bay when left sitting, they just love to chew through wiring.

really you don't say, well seeing as how one of my axles is clicking all of the sudden I'm gonna have to invest in a pair.
Now please splain the tone ring Lucy .

hack them off you don't need em.

Sure, jacking is not a problem, but if your floor jack's on the body lip or jacking point, and you want to place a jack stand, you have to find another spot for it.
true but who's to say you can't put the stand right next to the jack.
-
I just jack it up from the body lip right in front of the rear wheels and right behind the front wheels, no bending or tweaking.

I have bosch Platinum +2's in there and don't seem to have any issues with the ignition system, runs very smooth.
I'm a basic 'Bosch Super' copper person myself but I got these for free and figured hell I'll pop em in and give them a try, not disappointed.

I swear to god just do this. Buy a set of bright freaking Hella fogs, then buy a can of duplex yellow chrome spray paint, spray the fogs with this stuff and it will make them pure yellow but very see through in the sense that it won't look like you spray painted them but as if the lens itself is yellow. It looks great and I've done it on a few BMW's & VW's for my friends. I plan on doing it to my fogs if I get my outback bumper.
