As I was telling in another thread: in Europe the official oilchange-intervals are at 12.500 km (about 8.000 mls) or every 12 months, whichever comes first. That is on normal plain oil, at least for the Legacy. I use synthetic oil and I change it every 20.000 km (12.500 mls). I don't mean this to be an advise, but here in Holland all goes well. I make quite a lot miles and I am very keen on carefully warming up the engine the first few miles before I push the throttle down through the floorboard.

To answer Adge-082: same in Holland. There was a time I wouldn't like people seeing me near a Subaru, until a colleague of mine let me drive in his Legacy. I fell for it (her?). Everybody knows about the good quality of the car and the satisfaction owners have, still they are not sold in large numbers.

As for I know, at least in the Netherlands and in Germany the Sub is far out elected as the most reliable car in diffrent polls. After that for a long time you won't have nothing and than Toyota. No problems at all with mine (Outback 2.5 auto 1998). The major hassle is cleaning the outside now and then (and getting the smell of sheer enjoy of driving a nice car out of the interior).

Seafoam? By the way, Andyhausller, it strikes me that Subs in the US need an engine-oilchange every 3000 miles, while in Europe that is every 8000 miles. Why is that, you think, ****ty oil in the States?
I don't believe that the technical specs of American and European Subs differ. -
Every now and then I use a fueladdition. According to the manufacturer it will keep everything in the fuelsystem clean, such as the injectors. However, I've got the feeling that I pay always $8 for 250 ml of worthless kerosene. Can anyone comment upon this?

Jaap, it still looks like an EU Outback, won't it? Are there specialities I must know of to impress my girlfriend? (Please don't tell my wife, she has taken up the art of KungFu).
