  1. I believe I did start my own thread, and perhaps the word I should have used was "symptoms" and not problems. Sorry to offend your sensibilities. Guess I'm used to more understanding folk on the British car boards.
  2. I am having this same exact problem, except carb'd
  3. Thanks guys for the replies! I was told this was the board for older Subie's by the guys on the other Subie board. I tinker too much with the 5 MGBs to afford a WRX LOL. Skip, is there a FAQ section on here concerning that swap? And ^5 on the blokemobiles!
  4. Hey guys I purchased an 87 GL 4WD Wagon, and I'm having some issues with it. The motor seems to be good, but there is a serious vacuum issue with it currently, because it idles horribly erratic, and hestiates badly until 2500 rpm. It was most definitely missing, but I did change plugs, wires, cap and rotor. But now this idling issue has me going nuts. I thought I had identified the vacuum problem. Seems as if there was a hose off of the back driver side of the carb going to a check valve of some sort, and the valve nipple had broken off so a bolt was shoved into the hose. I went got a generic vacuum check valve at a parts store, and plugged it up, but it didnt seem to help very much. Any suggestions guys? Thanks! Zack
  5. Hey guys My name is Zack, from Cabot, Arkansas, and I recently purchased a fairly clean 1987 Subaru GL 4WD Wagon for a local fellow. It has about 109K on the odometer, and other than the paint peel on the hood, seems in really solid shape. It is the 1.8 carb'ed version The motor seems to be good, but there is a serious vacuum issue with it currently, because it idles horribly erratic, and hestiates badly until 2500 rpm. If anyone has any input on that, I'd be more than appreciative! As you can tell by my forum name, I am a car nut of the Union Jack persuasion normally. I have 5 MGB sports cars that I enjoy immensely, and thought this Subaru would be the perfect camping vehicle to go places the MG's couldn't! Haha. Once again guys, thanks for the great forum! - Zack
