  1. 85 gl 4wd Driving when all gauges went dead, had to keep revs up to keep motor running. Coasted to stop, found 15A "motor meter" fuse blown. Replaced fuse, turned ignition "on" & fuse blows again after 5 secs. Pulled alternator & found it putting out a bit less than 13 volts @ Schucks tester. This scenario seems unrelated to each other according to wiring diagram, so am stumped re: possible cause. Intend to pull dash to look for shorts - any thoughts would be appreciated from you guys as to what to what might be cause. I'm thinking alternator is weak to cause running problems, but why would cause blown fuse?
