  1. I am concidering 92 TBI 5speed swap into 87 MPFI turbo automatic. quicsam
  2. I am contemplating replacing dead auto trans with 5speed manual. Would like to kick around the idea before jumping into it. Both 92's are TBI fuel injected 1.8L. quicsam
  3. Greetings, USMB is a tremendous resource. Very good help, Thank you! I have been going around the bend on this one. Still have Check engine light on. 1989 GL wagon turbo full time all wheel drive. Disconnected battery to clear CE light. I get 0 long flash, 1 short flash. Haynes manual said it is Designation codes MPFI systems code 01 (MT, 49 States and Canada vehicle.) I dont know what this is telling me. I still have a random miss during idle that, sometimes shows up as slight miss or rough at idle.
  4. Thanks cobcob...all dash lights are back to the out position. Alternator VR was out. Quicsam Still have Check engine light. Disconnected battery to clear CE light. 5. We just replaced the hose under the alternator. We got coolant in the alternator. Do you think it will dry?
  6. All of my dash warning lights are dim not bright (on). The brake light is off. Alternator belt is snug and shunt to ground is good. Any suggestions?
  7. Thanks Skip...Great Picture. I went out and made sure there was no tension on the distributor cable. The fuel pump continued and she fired right up. I am going to let it set for some time and start it again to make sure I've gotten it. I bought this a year ago from a guy who bought it from a backyard mechanic who put a Japanese exchange engine in it. Neither of them could get it to work. A primary vacuum line was cracked and taped. I replaced the line and what a difference. Corrected the timing 90 deg out and she a go'n little thing. I have several junkers and I pull parts to keep these things running. I like working on the Subaru.
  8. Thanks...I wasn't getting fuel and the fuel pump wasn't staying on when I tried to start up the engine. I have a 89 GL wagon with Turbo 1.8L EA82 engine. It was having a hard time starting. We replaced the fuel regulator and cannot get the thing to start. Reading in the Haynes manual for MPFI fuel pump continues to run when cranking and running providing ECM receives reference pulses from electronic ignition. If no pulses pump will shut down as mine does.
  9. Hay I'm new to the USMB but not to Subarus....looking for crank angle sensor. can't seem to find it in the Haynes manual?
