That is correct.

On the newer Nuvi models, the antenna is internal. I have been thinking of upgrading, but have not gotten around to it.

My nuvi has the flip up antenna. I leave it flipped up towards the back of the cubby with no issues. Quite a few guys on the other forums have used a lot of other models, and I have yet to hear of a reception issue.

Just wanted show everyone the mount I made for my Garmin Nuvi 650. I wanted something temporary that could be easily removed. I fabricated a plate to match the rubber in the bottom of the cubby. Since there are little slots on the sides and back, I utilized those to hold it in place. It sits flush on top of the rubber. I laser cut it to size using clear acrylic so the suction mount would hold. http://www.subarucubbymount.com/ What do you guys think?
