  1. Nope, we tried that too As for the timing, it actually had to be done right, we triple checked it.
  2. Followed Milesfox's guide for doing the timing to a tee. Car still would not catch. Tried to jumpstart it a few times, and the motor seemed to seize solid:mad:
  3. I never had the otherside apart at all, only the passenger side. I lined up the dots my best, bolted the gear on, and then managed to slide the belt on.
  4. Hey guys, Just replaced the headgasket in my 92 Loyale. Checked the head, no cracks and didn't seem warped. Put it all back together, and it still won't start. It has spark on all 4 plugs, and is getting gas, but won't catch. I'm almost sure the timing is correct, but how would I know for sure?
  5. I'm having trouble getting the bolts out that are found after the valve cover is removed, basically the ones found behind the OHC that let part of the block come off to access the head. GeneralDisorder, do you think you can post a series of steps to walk me through it, if it's not too much trouble? I never thought on taking the wheel off, thanks for the tip! I'll be trying that as soon as i get a chance this week. I'll keep you guys updated.
  6. Hey guys, I have a 92 Loyale with the EA82. The headgasket is blown on the passenger side, and I'm in the midst of replacing it. I already have the valve cover removed, but I can't seem to get the the rest of the bolts that keep me from the headgasket, so I'm thinking the motor HAS to be removed to be able to do this. So, my question to you folks, can it be done with the motor in the car, or must the motor be removed? Is there anything I can let go to give me enough clearance to get the bolts out? Thanks, Hodder
  7. Hey, I've recently picked up a '92 Subaru Loyale 5spd AWD, with the EA82. Thoughts are kicking around in my head already if it can be easily boosted. It's not my primary driver, so time to work on it isn't a problem. Done a quick search, but never turned up anything. Also done a quick search for aftermarket pistons (As I assume stockers won't like boost too much) and never turned up anything ethier. I'm guessing it's Fuel injected, as FI is stamped on the intake (Honestly haven't had enough good time to look). There are no EA82T's around here, so direct bolt on doesn't seem to be an option. Anyone here have an EA82 that they Turbo'd themselves, and can shed some light on this for me? I'd greatly appreciate it. Looking forward to learning from you guys, and learning a lot more about these cars! Thanks, Hodder _________________
