Thanks to all for your response it is an 96 imprezza outback it has 4 new all season tires I was only going 55 mph on a highway and had less than an inch of snow . The car did not start fishtailing or anything it just seemed like the rear would get loose intermittantly

Hello I have a 96 Imprezza outback This morning we had our first snowfall of the year while driving to work it seemed when the AWD kicked in the rear of the car would get loose the car has all new tires and over the summer I put in the Duty C Selonoid any ideas would be appreciated thanks Marc

Thanks for all the input I installed the duty c selonoid this morning and seemed to take care of all my problems

as far as I know the trans is original the car came with all repair recipts since it was new nothing about replacing the trans there was one work order complaining about the torque bind and previous owner continued to drive car

I replaced the whole housing on my 96 impreza I rented lift time from a friend and in his shop it took me 6 hours I also live in upstate NY with rust the lower bolts that hold the rear trailing arms to the knuckles were froze I had to take trailing arms from frame to get the axles out ... When I opened the diff the spider gears were shattered

thanks for all the replies I ordered the duty c AKA transfer duty selonoid fron subarupartsforyou.com it is due here tomorrow I am pretty sure it is the selonoid because I am locked in AWD I bought the car with a blown rear end and starting to get small signs of happening again on slow turns

Hi all I have come to the conclusion that my 96 impreza outback needs the duty c selonoid and mpt clutches ...Does anyone know if there are aftermarket parts available or only the dealer .. thanks Marc
