  1. Thanks everyone, this is good information. Since I was standing in front of the car, on my driveway, with the doors already unlocked, I didn't even think of this; but it does make sense. So as not to kill the new battery, I left it at home with the cable off. I'll give it a try later.

Thanks again. I'll post back and let you know that this definitely worked.

    Regards,

    BR

  2. Hello,

I have a 1999 Forster and, due to the cold weather, needed to replaced the battery. The old (original) battery had become very weak and would not keep a charge for very long. Following this repair the parking (running) lights and dash lights are intermittently blinking. Everything else seems to work fine. When I turn on the headlights, all exterior and dash lights come on as normal, and even though they are not blinking you can still hear the clicking under the dash. I tried pulling some fuses that pertain to lighting and nothing stopped this behavior.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Bob R

P.S. It does this even when the key is out of the ignition.

  3. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help. I was doing between 35 & 40 MPH when the light first came on.

Coincidentally, I just had the water pump and thermostat replaced during a timing belt job (might-as-well syndrome). Based on your analysis, I'm going to assume it was a bad/failing thermostat. So, this morning, I cleared the code and will wait to see if it re-sets itself after a few driving cycles. If it does, then I'll look into replacing the radiator and/or head caskets.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,

    Bob

  4. Hello All,

I'm a newly registered member, but have been reading this message board for a while and have always found it fun and interesting.

I have a '99 Forester with 80k miles. The Check Engine light recently came on and my code reader tells me the DTC is P0483 - Fan 3 Control Circuit. Does anyone have any idea what this means and what the repair would be? I can't seem to find any information on it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Bob
