  1. Hello, I have been around subarus for a long time. I currently own a 2004 Impreza and a 1998 Forester. I joined the forum after finding some information on here regarding the cooling system refills, particularly on the forester. I live in Maryland but also spend time in Sunnyvale, Calif, where the forester is located. I'm not a tuner but rather just do what I can in my own garage and take it to a real subaru specialty house for bigger jobs. Hope to one day own an STi but until then, I get my need for speed from motorcycles and use the subarus for my normal transportation. I look forward to learning from the members here and hopefully contributing something useful here and there.
  2. Hitting an old thread here, but I too am looking for a good mechanic/shop that works on Subarus. I have spoke with someone at Don & John's in Sunnyvale/San Jose on E El Camino Real, and they seem to know Subarus pretty well. The guy I talked to at Japanese Beetle recommended D & Js. We had a recent cooling system episode with a 98 Forester and may be looking at some head gasket damage. I will update this thread or maybe create a new one with how things go with this shop.
  3. I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd go ahead and post an update. Japanese Beetle does not work on Subarus. The fellow I spoke with recommended Don & John's @ 408.241.9999. I will call them and keep this thread updated with what I find out.
