  1. UPDATE..:

I went down to NAPA, and did some checking..had them get out the "Box-O-gaskets"....what we came up with is a gasket for a Toyota...what year, or model I'm not sure....but here it is if anyone needs it..

F14592 is the part number on the bag that was covering it.. It had orriginal napa cardboard in the bag, and it was un-opened util I got it... what it is is a round donut style gasket / ring that has a metal surround on the outside, treated cardboard like hard inner portion and another thin ring on the inside...

it's nice na thick, and as I was bolting it up, it made a very nice fit and a GREAT seal....something I'm not used to up till this point with this car...

anyway...that's the update..hope the info does someone some good.

  2. Hi there,

ON my 83 Brat, I started to get an exaust leake...off the right (passenger side) of the enging...I dissasembled last night to find that the gasket between the exaust port and that adapter thingy for exaust recirc for smog control is mostly gone...

it's not the standard oval shaped gasket with a hole in the middle and 1 in each ear, it's just a round ring of some kind from what I can tell.

I pulled that exaust port thingy off another engine that I have, but the gasket / bushing thing looks to almost be rubber in there....

    what's it supposed to be?

anyone got a Napa or Schucks part number on one of those by chance...??

I talked to both of them, and they don't even know how to look it up..

    help!!??!!!

    Thanks in advance..

  3. Hi,

when talking to friends back east, I found someone that knew someone, that saw some heads sitting on the shelf...they asked... they were for a 90's + Subaru with an EA82. They have new Valves, guides, and all kinds of other things done..valve grind, head decked .020...or something like that...

they want to sell, but I don't know what to offer..

    any ideas??

    Thanks,

  4. Hi all,

Looking at a 1987 GL-10 Turbo wagon...seems everything is fine, but the tranny...

the owner (of questionable intelligence.., I don't know exactly how many brain cells he has left, looses count after 4....anyway) claims that when he adds tranny fluid, it finds itself a way to enter the engine.......all the tranny fluid he ads, ends up in the engine.....is this possible?....after 75 miles the tranny is empty, and the engine has several quarts too much oil....( or tranny fluid as the case may be)..

Thanks for the time to read this,

  5. only thing that scares me is the whole conversion process...when I converted my 83 brat from 4wd Auto, to 4wd d/r, there was allot more to it than I immagined...guess the biggest fear...I thought (?) that the Turbo Tranny and the non turbo tranny were a different bolt pattern at the bell housing..or am I just confused... I would love to have the with the D/R 5speed...just wasn't sure how much of an issue that would be, i don't have a decent shop / area / flat surface to do the work right now...

    I'm thinking on it..

  6. Hi,

Today, I found a 85 GL wagon...owner doesn't want it anymore....they took some parts off of it for thier daily driver, now it's of no use to them...

body is in pretty good shape...only thing I want is the exaust system....I will be taking it to the junk yard for them in the next few weeks in exchange for free parts....

make me a list of whatever you may be looking for, and I'll see what's available...engine is supposedly good, just leaks oil around the oil pump...tranny 5sp/dr isn't soo good, shifts bad..has diff and rear axle....

  7. I was orriginally going with the raptor also...just didn't like the tight fit...that's why I decided on the Cherry bomb... My wife actually likes driving the car now...she say's it sounds good and throaty, but not TOOOOO loud...

i had a old worn out like 12" cherry for a while not to bad

went to a shucks special 20 dollar "raptor" 2-1/4 muffler

not a bad sound but adding about10 inches of copper pipe to the end so it comes to the end of the muffler makes it much better

i may use the small cherry as kind of a "resonator" after the muffler just to se ehow it sounds

  8. I haven't noticed any extra noise while downshifting or decelerating... That is what I was afraid of. The car has a nice tone when idling, and you get on it a little, you can really here it breath...but not loud...I think the 2 inch pipe I put in the out put helped calm things down.........

really enjoy it...more fun to drive now, and definately no flat spots...

    chow for now!

  9. Hey there everyone..

Been reading on the EA-performance page about the benifits of replacing the stock muffler with a Turbo or other cheap after market that will improve the flow, but keep the sound decent....I decided to give it a try...

so, went and bought the recomended turbo muffler, got ready to put it on, and didn't like the way it fit....so, back to the autoparts store and inquired about cherry bombs....I decided on a 22 inch (it's actually about 23 7/16)....it fit great!!!!

only thing, when cutting off the orriginal muffler, instead of cutting it right at the pipe where it enters to orriginal muffler, cut it about 3 inches away from the muffler....this piece (the one that is still on the exaust system) will fit right nice with the cherry bomb, and it will allow the bomb to fit right in the muffler pocket under the car, then about a 22 inch output pipe into the cherry bomb to the back of the car and it's done...

it's got nice tone, and it's actually quieter than the stock muffler (most of the time, unless you really get into the weber)...

I would highly recomend this....to anyone that is considering....total cost is about $28 bucks..

    $16 for the Cherry bomb

    qty 2 - 2inch muffler clamps at $2.00 ea.

24 inch of 2 inch output pipe $8.00

I know, according to some people there are cheaper ways to do this, but I'm glad it's been done this way...good tone, but not loud...just throaty!!
