  1. That's the plan IF it ever gets from daily driver to project stage . I was talking to a friend at a hi-po shop (who's done some similar work for me in the past on a Mach I and Eclipse Spyder GT) about some possible port 'n pollish work as well. I guess I don't need to get ahead of myself tho...first things first,I gots to wait for the tax refund to get it in my driveway, and it's budget (and coincidently, how serious I get with it) depends heavily on when I ever get Disability/SSI approval (cause with it,our income will be about $3100 per month with hardly any bills by then, right now,we're sitting around $1350 per month for the 4 of us-funny,for 21 years,4 of which was serving during/just after Desert Storm, the Gov held it outta my check BEFORE I got paid, but they expect me to beg for food for 2 years waiting to get approval :-\).
  2. I've always done OK in the snow with front drivers,so ths OBS will be a big improvement anyways. Being honest...I'm not 25 years old anymore (closer to 40 than 30,LOL),so as much as my first instinct is "MORE POWER!!!",in truth,I'll want a few more ponies (especially since it's automatic),but I'm more interested in having that "look and sound",but dead reliable like a close-to-stocker. BUT (funny how there's always one there, huh? LOL!),should this car find itself in a "3rd car" non-depended-on-daily-driver position,I can see myself looking for a totalled out WRX STI with a good drivetrain/computer...I also can see myself looking for a good used blue or black 2.5RS once back to normal (financially) too,I really liked those.
  3. LOL,I hear ya! As for the wood stove,my Pops is coming over tomorrow sometime so we can install one in our house...been sitting there strapped to a dolly for 2 weeks now,but we were all too down with that friggin pig flu
  4. Man,as I walked passed my old Escort wagon knowing it'd be tomorrow before I even getta look to see which brake line popped, then the 1/2 mile down the hollow to the bus stop with my kids a few minutes ago,I watched our breath steam outta our mouths (it's about 31 degrees),and looked over at my Grandma's at the Sube, thinking about the heat it would put out on a morning like this...sure would be nice if the tax fair would come early,LOL!
  5. Thanks Bro The hard times'll pass...we've known they were eventually coming since the accident back in 2001,so we were at least mentally prepared if not financially,LOL! The house only has about 6 years left to pay,her car's got 6 payments left, and everything else's paid for,so I ain't complaining,we've been blessed Yeah,I'm really looking forward to it. I liked that car when she first bought it back in the Fall of '99,and when she gave it (free even) to my worthless cousin...at least he only had it a few months before gettin sent off for the next 8-12 years, and never had the chance to total it like all his other cars,LOL! It should make a kool driver, but once I'm finally "on the draw" (what my Grandpa calls disability/SSI),things will get back to normal, and it'll be a project car then
  6. Well you can't knock gettin the mancave (garage) outta the mix I really wish we'd bought a place with a garage. But I ain't complaining, all my neighbor's are at least in their 70's,and I plan to buy it up as it comes "available",so sooner or later,we'll own the entire mtn,LOL! And mine's put up with me (and in the past...that was a LOT) for 17 years last month,so I guess I can act "trained" for the most part,LOL!
  7. I always said "An automatic is a waste of a good car"...especially when owning and driving Rigs with as many as 18 speed double overdrive's,but alas...the wifey is manual ignorant (and has proven an inability, and has no desire to learn),and will be driving it on occasion,so as much as I'd LOVE to swap it out, doesn't look like it ,at least so long as it's in daily driven, not project car, state  Yeah,me too (the front end) Hey,if you look closely, you can see my Grandma's current ride hangin out of the garage...not to sound morbid (I'd rather keep my Grandma, but realistically, she's over 80 this year :-\),but unless she up and trades for a new one before she passes on,that'll be mine when that day comes (and if she does,I'm gunna talk her into a new WRX STi ).
  8. That's what I was afraid of,LOL! Well, exhaust and intake (like a home-made short ram K&N type deal) and a chip if I can find one will have to do. I don't wanna mess with the cams till it's off the "daily driver" status (also a possibilty next year...once I get approved for Disability/SSI...hey,not lazy,I broke my neck in two places a few years back, and payed in for over 21 years ),we'll be possibly looking at a new Forrester for a family car,and I'll be buying a mini truck to slam/daily drive,so I may seriously look into pulling this one off the road and doing some more major mods like a turbo kit,or better,a swap to an engine with much more potential. I dig sleepers Thanks for the info,Bro. Here's a few pics of it (I walked down to their house and shot em a few minutes ago)...
  9. Thanks for the welcome wagon,Jerry! I can vividly remember paying less than a buck per gallon, but $0.199??? Wow!!! "Ol Skool" is more of my username on model car forums where I build mostly pre-'65 Hotrods and Kustoms (model car kits) than an age referance,LOL!
  10. Cool, thanks! That should help in searching
  11. I'll be getting into a clean,1 owner low milage '99 OB Sport soon, and was just wondering where I could find some bolt-ons for it (exhaust/intake,chips,etc). I'm assuming it has the 2.2L engine, but really not sure. Where would be a good place to start, upgrades for looks and a little better performance with dependability and a strict budget (which should open up sometime next year) in mind? Thanks
  12. Well, not completely new to Subes,10 or so years ago,I owned an '88 GL sedan front wheel drive,LOL! Anyways,I just found this site thru an online friend who's into tuning his cars after asking if he knew of any Sube forums/sites. I don't know if he's a member or not. It's been a while since I've tinkered with any 1:1 (real) cars/trucks,due to having been going thru the whole unable to work/cancelled CDL due to injuries/Disability-SSI thing this year...haven't had the extra income with only her working,LOL! So I'm Mr. Mom now,I guess But,in 3-4 months,I'll be picking up a 1 ownwer '99 Outback Sport from my Grandma (who currently drives a sweet '06 OB Sport, and lives next to my uncle who drives an '09 OB Sport). It's Silver on Grey (I'll go over to visit one day this week and shoot a couple pics),fully loaded with every option (cept leather),has the 2.2L/auto,about 75,000 miles, has always slept indoors, and has always been taken back to Subaru for servicing. Besides that it's a well maintained, reasonably low milage 1 owner car, obviously I'm stoked about the whole AWD thing and winter-time around here. If you knew me,however, you'd know I can never leave things alone/stock for long, and I'm expecting our financial woes to be over by next Spring too...so I'm thinking I'd like to drop it lower an inch or two,and slap some bolt-ons (eg:exhaust/header,intake,air intake, chip, etc) with maybe a nice set of 18" wheels (it has the stock,16" steel wheels less hubcaps currently),and just enjoy driving/cruising it for next year, maybe get more serious with it once it's no longer "depended on for transportation".
