I've got a real nice 1975 4-wheel drive wagon. It had been sitting for years but the usual fluid changes and carb rebuild got it running. However, it smoked and had poor power, even for a 1400 Soobie. Occasionally, the engine would race with my foot off the gas pedal, but a couple of stabs at it would calm things down to normal. One day, that didn't do it! The primary throttle plate came off the shaft and was swallowed. After removing the carb, then the intake manifold; probing with pinchers, grabbers and magnets, I determined it was in a cylinder. Well, the engine was tired anyway so I pulled it out but I have not yet opened it. Three questions: 1. A source for rebuild kits and parts for an EA 63. 2. Will an EA 71 bolt in? I found out that an EA 81 will not. 3. Has anyone done any interesting swaps, such as a Mazda rotary, or VW?
