  1. 2.2's aren't worth rebuilding - period. End of story.

Definitely throwing away money buying a $1700 engine for a '93.... That's worth about $1700 on the open market. At 190k miles the car is nearing the end of its life and a $500 used engine with 150k on it will work out just fine till the car reaches end-of-life at about 350k.

I do this every day - 7 days a week. There is just no justification for what you propose. It's a waste of money to spend more on a single component than the car is worth - especially when there are reasonable, prudent, and cost effective options that will not total the car out from a cost perspective.

sooo..is it 190k or 350k as far as life goes...???...!!!!

1st..u need to read more thoroughly...i never stated what mileage is on my legacy..its 130k..has NO Rust...perfect paint/leather interior & fully loaded with all options including hyd suspension that works perfectly as everything else does except engine... everyone has their own perspective..ive had over 400 vehicles in my time & 4 dozen subarus... 9 days a week.. i dont care about what 1 person may justify and another will not.. i also dont care what the value is ...i enjoyed this car & will continue to...running or not..& it will be running again shortly..i also want the assurance of having a reconditioned engine..

not some $500 engine that might puke in a week..also dont care about reasonable/prudent/effective bs perspectives,, enuff said..geez:horse:

oh...& additionally...iwas offered 2k for the car in its present state ..

anywaayyy..if someone does have a low mi engine ring me up....tanks..:-p

  2. It only takes about a day to build an engine once you have all of the parts. I've done about 7 now, and my very first one is coming up on 25k uneventful miles.

Just saying, you could save a few thousand by building it yourself.

Otherwise, I have a 190k mile resealed 2.2 longblock for $1000+ freight with new HGs and such.

    lets see...with that math...

....if i could save a few thousand it would be free...right???

unless u would Give me all the New parts to rebuild mine... ??!!!

    &... did ur 1st 1 have 190k to start with???:-\

anyhoo... 1k for a 190k shortblock w/ hg's & seals doesnt sound like the deal im lookin for...& no warranty...:banghead:

  4. Hi all..I'll finally be towing my wagon home tomorrow...already have the 90 Legacy LS AWD Sedan here..Paid $500 for both..!!! The sedan runs great..needs muffler & there is some shaking in the front but no biggie..anyway ..what / how to check for possible waterpump leak on the Turbo Wagon..it was at a reputable local shop that seller is friends with & was diagnosed w / w/pump leaking & blown headgaskets..

I figured I would check the w/pump first then h/gaskets..

    ?????????:-\ applications for w/pump replacement...Thanks...

    All Help Appreciated..
