The lift supports on my wife's '02 Legacy Outback LL Bean are losing their 'oomph' and won't open the gate all the way, causing me to hit my head from time to time.
I ordered replacements from liftsupportdepot.com and received them but the ends/mounts look different from the stock set. One end is correct with a ball socket interface (although for the life of me I can not figure out to get the existing one off), but the other is also a ball socket and the stock one there now is more of a pin/rod that almost looks like it can't be removed from the mounting bracket. Pictures below show what I mean.
The ones I ordered are here:Part #48075 Both ends are ball socket and they included new bolt studs or whatever you'd like to call them. Basically a bolt with the ball on one end, looks very similar to what is already mounted on the lower half of the body to accept the lower end of the lift support.

So my questions are, did they send me the wrong supports? If not, how the heck do I get the old support off - both ends look troublesome and what about installing the new ones?
Thanks in advance for any/all help with this. Great site and community from the little perusing I've done here so far.
