  1. So our rust free Cali Rx is feeling much better. So far ... we have installed a gl grill, GL10 seats, a biamplified stereo system with 12s , black honeycomb wheels, and fixed a number of minor issues. We painted it 69 cobra blue metallic ( paint kit off ebay ). I just got the motor back in yesterday and today we fired her up. ( new head gaskets, hoses, and some other leaks fixed ). It didn't want to stay running at first - turns out the bottom of the intake tube is dried and broken - it would not seal so no air was going through the maf. I have it stuck on there as best I could but if anyone has one in decent shape I would gladly buy it off you ! I'm afraid it will pull off while I'm flying down a wash in the desert. Please pm meif you can help:drunk:

  2. I got the trunk and fuel door cables working reasonably well but the door was not popping open. I found the little spring was missing that clips on the back. I called the dealer Friday but have not heard back from SA back east. Anyone had success with adapting another spring? or maybe even got a spring and/or whole fuel door assy. I could buy/ trade for???

  3. I swapped wheels between the RX and the GL10 - also the seats. I put new seat covers on the roached seats , bled the brakes, gave it a wash and vacc. Stuck the 88 GL10 up fs on the city car lot. The RX....:headbang:Now has a clean interior, rebuilt oil pump, black snowflake wheels, and a shiny new paint job - shelby cobra blue. I mounted a gl grill and loyale turn signals. Also - put in a pioneer head unit , 5 band eq, alpines in the doors, bostons in the rear deck, pioneer 12s behind rear seat, cheap lightning audio amp with fosgate cables, and an xtant monoblock running the subs. You would think my kid would be in a hurry to get his license! Still needs head gaskets and new rad. I'll try to get some pics up.

  4. I have absolutly had it with this car, It is a rust free California 1988 Gl10. Turbo AWD automatic. All filters and fluids reg. changed Royal Purple oil, genuine subaru filters, clean trans fluid, air ride deleted for struts off a wagon, 2 month old hankook tires on aluminum h wheels, functional hood scoop, factory spoiler, new belts, battery, alt , ice cold air, aftermarket boost gauge. aftermarket fuel gauge and sender. NEW PAINT factory color with extra metalflake - windows tinted, rear deck modified for 10" subs, super clean car, Everything worked including sunroof and cruise control. One day on lunch it just stopped running! I am about ready to just pull some parts and the seats out of it to get my son's rx going and throw this thing away. It also has new brakes and cv shafts. Make me an offer for the chasis - open to trades. This is a beautiful car to look at and it drove like a dream but I either have bad spark , too much fuel , or iffy compression. Would be an awesome candidate for an ej22 swap. I can't get it to run , maybe u can. I am located in northern Arizona at Lake Powell. I will post this on the fs board too but 2 b honest it does not get that much visitation. U can call me at 928-660-1240 with questions.

  5. maybe you have a point... the fuel does not hold pressure. I unhook the hose from the fuel filter and there is nothing there until I turn the pump back on. A pressure reg. comes after the injectors - right? It has to be a single point failure that ties to all 4 injectors given the suddeness of it quitting. I will try to find some time to work on it tomorrow. Thanks!

  6. thanks for the replies ! Yes it is an ea82t - wishful thinking i guess:D. The rotor is still screwed in place and spins , we put the spark tester on each cylinder. The first one had good energy - the shortest wire - all others looked weak to me. I will try that transistor off my spare car - I think a spark problem is much more likely than a fuel one. The suddeness of it breaking makes me think it would be a single point failure ( ie not 3 out of 4 plug wires or all 4 injectors ) thanks! any other ideas?

  7. 1988 gl10 auto awd. My son went to lunch and it refused to start , stranding him. Compression is 100,95,90,75 . The plugs , cap , and rotor are new, Timing belts are new. Fuel pressure looks good, Spark looks good when a plug is laying out but an inline spark tester looks weak on 3 out of 4 wires. I swapped the coil and pretty much no change. After attempting to start , the plugs were soaked with gas. If I pull the line off the filter there is no pressure in it until I hit the key. Could the injectors be letting an excess of fuel dump in the cylinders? Is it more common to have a spark problem erupt suddenly - neither one seems likely but nevertheless - it does not run.

  8. 88 GL10 , ea82t of course. The vanes in my wife's car keep sticking. They aren't too bad to get loose but it is really annoying. I was hoping to get it rebuilt but the place has not called me back yet ( hector's in phoenix ). Any ideas on why this is happening ( mileage, age, lack of heat shield , etc ) ?:confused:thanks! It may be easier to just buy a good used one - I will post on the wtb section too.

  9. well , the wife's car has an ongoing grind in the frontend. I replaced all the brake components but I think the pads are misaligned. It also needs a tune up - seems to miss on occasion at low speeds. AC controller does not want to go into max and stay there. The RX has all the same stuff broken as I have not really got to work on it yet....
