The ignition will not turn at all key goes in but will not move

I went to get in my car and the key no longer turns the car on. It unlocks the doors and goes in the ignition just fine. There has never been an issue with it before today and I don't know what's going on. Any help appreciated.

it was the inside lock by the drivers side handle. but i went and got the whole door jam system from my old bubaru.

so i just went and bought this subaru, when i lock the drivers door (manual locks) i wont unlock it feels really weird like there is some resistance to it like its not lining up right. please help:banana:

so ive been told that the gl's have a way to crank the rear end up. but i can not find anything like this, does me year not have this its an 88 gl 1.8

hey so the u-joint in the very front driveline in my 88gl 4wd went out. i went to napa today and they told me that the u-joints are unreplacable and it was 600 bucks for the driveline. do i have any options like drilling the driveline out were the u-joints go and get a bigger sized u-joint?? i have little experince with this type of thing so any help helps!!

can i just switch the rails, will it all fit. any help please!

well i know how to do the timing belt i did it already i was just looking mabey for a url to a thread that has pics of the procces and such becuase as i said i am fixing this bubaru up for my senior project and need to write a huge paper on the steps that i did. and im not sure which engine it is a 88 gl non turbo ea82

does anyone have a detailed write-up on replacing the timing belts, i am using my subaru as my senior project and i did my timing belt already with no pics, and the repair book i have is not to detailed, any pics or step by step thing would be awsome thanks. also i am thinking about doing the pcv valve and i have no idea what im doing there so any help there would be very helpfull also.

my power steeing pump whines when i turn in my 88gl, my friends loyale also does the same thing, is this normal

hey so my gl is doing somthing that i have never seen. so the other day i went out wheeling in the sub, when i was tillted in a downword postion it starts blowing smoke out the exhaust and burns alot of oil, then when i drive a mile or two it stops smoking, any ideas.

timing belt had broke

i lost my key and have no spear. its an 88 gl, will a key from another older bubaru work?? please help my car is stuck in the woods for the night.

wow thanks for all the help guys. im going to check some of this out today, and i live in Trout lake, Washington. im way up in the woods, this was a city car i figure its about time its used for what its made for. well ill keep you guys updated.

hi, I just bought an 88 subaru gl 4wd, I was told that the timing on the car was off, so I could not start the car when i bought it; but i didnt really care i wanted my first subi. So with some help from my grandpa I redid the timing. but when i fired the car it idled for about 20 seconds and died, its not getting spark, I bought a new ignitor, and still not starting up. Any help please I dont know to much about this thing. help me out!
