  1. Dont worry about that M8T! Its not being inflammatory at all!

In my quest to modernize this kit car of mine, I have been put back into my place time and time and, not because I over step my bounds, or pissed people off, but rather, I had became grounded again finding out what others had already known. or found out themselves.

What youve said is very true. And there are many different variables that contribute to a car working well, or not. Like the old addage says, speed costs, how much you willing to spend? Well, I know from my past projects, if you want loud, fast, and aggresive you better get a loan, and a gas card, cause youll need it.

My concerns arent as much on the performance of the car, but more for aesthetics. the absudrly light kit car with this much power will be down right scary at times. But I can understand on long drives how having abit lower revs, would help.

But if Im not mistaken, to properly change the revs, you have to plan out alot involving the cams, and crank. And then to what end, like you stated it is after all a 4 cylinder, not a 8-10-or 12.

Or we could all start a new thread, on changing the subaru legacy and imprezas to hold a supercharged version of the EG33 motor, then youll have tons of torque.

  2. Id say regear for lower RPM's on the highway @ speed, then use a varex muff to keep things quiet outdoors.

But the gearing depends greatly on the weight the engine is pushing in realtion to the HP it makes.

And yes, I know in regard to the motorcycle. But it depends on what year and model your talking about. I was referring to it generally.

The stock WRX depending on model and year makes about 10.1 to 11.1 hp to weight.

    The 1998 lamborghini diablo's HP is 7.0

(these are based on results found on google)

So anyway, it sounds like both fun and scary at the same time!:)

Id just like to know what would be a better gear ratio for such a light car like mine. Not to mention getting better mileage, on long drives.

I wonder if dropping the gearing enough to get around 1500 RPM's at 65mph would be too low, or even possible.

  3. So my question would be, what would be the best for an exotic looking kit car sporting the EJ20TT motor and trans in it?

I too would be doing mostly normal driving, but a decent arse spanking to a cocky dude in a civic with a fart box muffler may be in order now and then.

I want the car to be driveable in any weather, but, be able to have that surge of acceleration that will make peoples jaw drop, and my cheeks peel back.

    Should I need to.:)

The vehicle stats are 1800lbs, mid engine, and the motors rumored to have 250HP.

    About a 7:1 HP/Weight ratio, just shy of a CBR600's stats.

  4. What ind of kit car are you doing? Will it have a VW trans? I've always enjoyed doing those cars. Getting these motors to run with nothing but a donor car and lots of wire cutting isn't too bad.

    Its a Sterling Kit car.

The VW lump will be removed in favor of the SVX engine strapped to an impreza 5 speed.

Im using a painless wiring harness. And frnakly only need enough wires connected to make the engine run like it should.

Even the A/C system will be aftermarket, so the ECU would only need to control the engine, and send a signal to the tach.

    But, 1800 lb car, + 240hp motor =

  5. hello,

I would love to chat with the person that did this.

Im planning an SVX in my kit car. And would love some help to discern what I need to have to make the engine work in a stock fashion with all its sensors etc. But in my kit car.

I have a painless wiring harness installed now. But Id like to splice the two together to make this work.

    Any help?

    Email or PM me!

    Thanks!
