Yes this is very rare for the crankshaft snout that holds the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft completely sheard off to where the harmonic balancer is no longer attached to the crankshaft only to be held onto by the bolt itself... i have no pictures yet this incident i guess is very very rare....
  2. The snout of the crankshaft that holds the harmonic balancer in place by the key is broke off completely...the harmonic balancer is fine...it just sheared off leaving the snout and the key inside the harmonic balancer in which it just spins...hard to explain

My 1996 subaru outback 2.5 harmonic balancer broke off the crank shaft the timing belt gear is fine w/ no dammage is there a way to fix this problem? possibley drill holes into the harmonic balancer and timing gear and add expansion pins to hold it in place? doin some wishfull thinkin I know Thanks for any input
  5. Harmonic balancer broke off!

     

    The timing belt pulley gear is fine behind the harmonic balancer but it sheared of the front of the crank shaft that hold the harmonic balancer in place

     

    Is there any way to fix this problem?

     

    btw its a 1996 subaru outback 2.5 liter.
