  1. Im done some searching on here and Im trying to figure out what all is needed to swap an auto trans from a 1997 Legacy Outback Wagon 2.5/4EAT into a 2000 Legacy Outback Wagon 2.5/4EAT. I just did a 5MT swap and it went really well, but Ive heard there were changes in the wiring in 98/99. I also have both complete cars for parts. From what Ive found, the 2000 has a final drive ratio of 4.444 but I cannot find anything about the final drive ratio on the 1997. The trans codes are: 2000: TZ1A4ZCABA and the 1997: TZ102Z2CBA. Im wondering if its possible to swap the 97 into the 00 and what wiring work would be needed? or is it possible to change the sensors from the 00 trans into the 97 and plug in and go? or any other wiring options? Also Im wondering what the final drive ratio is on the 97, worst case I can swap the rear axles too. Thanks!
  2. Im not sure what the Legacy GT had for a clutch, I should find out tonight when I pick it up and Ill let you know how it goes
  3. I abbreviated legacy GT as LGT.. not sure what the GT stands for? lol I think I'll go pickup the trans tomorrow night and see what I can do, thanks for all the help and I'll see what happens with the clutch and I may be back for help, thanks again!
  4. I checked this website (http://spda-online.ca/modules/tinycontent/rewrite/tc_28.html) and both final drive ratios are 4.11 and they are both push clutch type, so that is good, Ive heard of a speed sensor, but I have no idea what it is, where it is or what it does... any help? Ill do some researching on my own too
  5. I just picked up a 2001 Forester (5 spd MT, EJ25) with 276000 miles that is incredibly clean and runs well, but it only has 1-3 and reverse, the previous owner said that it "locked" into 4th or 5th gear and wouldn't come out and once it did they didn't work anymore. I think it might be time for a new trans and haven't looked into what is wrong with this one but I found a cheap trans ($300) from a 1998 Legacy GT and I was wondering if it would swap easily (I know it should bolt up) or if I will have issues with the ECU or the teeth on the gears lining up? The transmission codes are: 1998 LGT: TY752V2DAA 2001 Forester: TY755VC1BA Any help on this would be awesome! Also, I've never opened a trans or worked on one, but would it be better/easier to repair the one in it? I don't mind doing the work and learning how to, but the $300 fix sounds easier to me...
