  1. I just want to get it into my garage, so I need to start it it's about 150 ft away but on soft soil.... I still need to remove the shifter from inside the car. Just four bolts left This cable is not that obvious. Under the hood, on the passenger side what looks to be like the end of a cable but its attached to the cabin bulkhead with a bracket. I can make out the right wheel drive axel coming out of the transmission. Other than that... Probably will need to buy manual...
  2. Thanks for the replies....much appreciated....my main problem is that the car is sitting in the middle of no where (in my yard) getting into the garage to work on it would be my first move...
  3. Im going to try from inside as you suggested...but would appreciate any diagrams you may have...I like to know where Im going on account of I tend to break things when they dont come off easy. Thanks
  4. I have 2000 Legacy GT w/AT. Trying to start car, transmission lock was preventing me from shifting into Drive, after overiding lock I was able to put it into drive. However, afer driving a few minutes I shifted down to 2 and then 1. Bad move, tranny wouldn't let me come back up. In fact could not put it into neutral reverse or anything. Had to drive 15 miles in first gear. At home, stopped car turned off engine. Now it wont start because its still in first gear. The shifter arm felt loose and I suspect the cable or something else may be broken or loose. Any ideas? Dont have manual or pics or anything so its hard to know where I'm going. Does anyone have a diagram of shifter and linkages underneath? I read on another forum about a guy who went under the hood to shift manually by moving a lever. How can I get the car to a garage? Thanks RD
