Thank you so much ruparts! You're the first person on 2 car forums who's actually known how to get to this thing. Unfortunately, when I exposed the parts the sad truth became clear: Pence Auto (dealership) special ordered and sold me the wrong part . Back to the drawing board so to speak. I appreciate you taking the time to help me.

Help! Trying to replace vapor separator on '88 DL automatic wagon (trying to get it back on the road after years of sitting). Bought the part through the dealer, but Haynes manuel is no help in actually locating the part on the car. Thought with new filter in hand, I'd recognize it on the car, but no luck. Either I have to remove something to get to the part, or the dealership sold me the wrong part. Haynes says remove interior rear vinyl trim panel on passenger side to get to part; nothing but wheel well underneath that panel. How do I find this thing? Thanks.
