  1. You have to be careful with the tow truck folks. Some of them don't have a clue. I had my land rover on a flat bed once and the driver was trying to tie down the frame. Every time he pulled, my air suspension would trigger on and he almost popped my bags before I saw what he was doing. On any given game day in Knoxville you can watch the vultures dragging cars all directions for a tow bill. We sit on the porch and yell mean things to them, it makes us feel better. More than likely your car will be "fine" but I would still call AAA and tell them you didn't appreciate it and that you need another "incident" or whatever they call it added to your card.

  2. Thanks for all of the replies. The assembly I have already has a used bearing in it so that shouldn't be a problem unless it sucks as well. It was only $25 though so I'm not too worried. Thanks for the link to the instructions, that was exactly what I was after. I'll have to think about doing it myself though... I can get it done for less than 80 so it might be worth it. Anyways thanks again!

  3. Uhhh... Whoops... Anyhow, I called some guy in south corolina so we will see how this works out. I've had to do this alot with land rovers but it seems like there are more resources. Got one with 90,000 miles for less than fifty shipped with a 30 day warranty so who knows how that will go. The guy had 43 of them. Thanks, now I need to figure out how to put it in. I'll check and see if it's in my PDF but it kinda skims some stuff.

  4. Thanks for the replies. On that link that you gave I only saw RH (I am assuming it means right hand) so I am assuming that would not work on the left side. The shop quoted me 110.00 for the bearing and said it would take about 4 hours so their estimate was 400.00 and something (including realignment). I would like to avoid that if possible :) I will keep looking around and have contacted a parts guy I have used before so I will keep trying. Does anyone have a resource that shows the spindle, hub and bearing if I decide to tear into it myself?

  5. Just a random suggestion but if you have to pay over $80 for a tow you should just call AAA and sign up for one of their packages. I got the the plus package for $99 and it will let me have 3 tows/ service within 200 miles. I got it when I bought an old Land Rover and didn't want to pay $150 to tow it to my house. You can activate and use it in the same day. I am not affiliated with AAA but hate to pay huge tow bills. Hope this helps someone, since I own Rovers I know a thing or two about tow bills :0

  6. i replaced the entire assembly myself. can we see a pic?

Here is a link to my picasa account with some pics. Im not sure if they show enough however... When removing the back, interior panel is it held on with those brittle plastic pieces? If so are they special order from the stealership or can I get them at an auto store?
