  1. I'm picking an old project up again and need some help to test a EA81 engine on a test stand . I have the engine running on the test stand for a very short while as the cooling radiator was not connected . I'd like to test the engine for longer and connect the radiator and water pipes . I've connected the radiator main pipes to the water pump ans thermostat housing on the manifold . I need some advice on the 2 heater hoses , one coming from the water pump and the other from the manifold ? Can I connect these hoses together so the water flows around the engine as I will not be using a heater core ? Also should I leave the cooling fan on the radiator running on constantly as I test the engine to avoid any overheating ? Any help / advice appreciated . Thanks . Tucker
  2. Does this need to be connected for engine bench test ?
  3. I've attached some pics of pipes I'm not sure of
  4. I'm bench testing an EA81 and have managed to start and run the engine thanks to help from an earlier post requesting help . I can rev the engine fine but I can't maintain an idle so I'm guessing that it's a vacuum problem with one of the pipes . I'm not sure which pipes need to be blocked or if it could be something else
  5. Pics of the valves are as they are at timing set at TDC. If something is not right I hope someone can chime in with some advice . Thanks.
  6. Position of valves at TDC for #1 and #3 cylinders
  7. I managed to get the engine to fire but not run even for a few seconds . Firing order is 1-3-2-4 counter clockwise . I have been using easy start in the carb. I have attached some pics of my ignition timing settings and of the valves .
