Put 2.25" exhaust on the subie from the cat back with a flowmaster 40 on the back with about 18" 2.5" and a tip. Welded it all. Sounds good except the exhaust leaking from the head.

Ordered pistons for my long overdue EA81 project, and I'm picking up a Ball hone to do the cylinders with. Just wondering if I should get some plasti-gauge or just put it together without checking my clearances.
And Now I have to locate that bottle of anaerobic gasket maker Jerry gave me...
Twitch
check your clearances, I ruined a freshly rebuilt mazda motor like that, right around 3k miles after rebuild

Ordered an egr gasket and bought a one man brake bleeder as my old one was cracked and leaking brake fluid. Should be getting the egr on Thursday from NAPA, until then I will bleed the brakes and finally adjust the rear drums. Will go into the emission shop on Thursday if time permits. Heading off to Wyoming on Friday, and will have to go back to the DMV next Monday if the beast doesn't pass emissions and attempt on getting a one year exemption since I have now met the min of $200 of emissions related repairs(distributor, rebuilt carb, plugs, wires, rotor, etc etc) And to think I thought this was going to be an easy project.
We all wish you Luck!

Good lord... That's insane. I wouldn't have dreamed that a shampooing would have helped that much.
I would I have spent hours shampooing one seat over and over, they turn out great!

I ended up rigging a steel bushing and some heater hose for now

I want to love it, but i need to get it to that point. I am putting much work into it almost on the scale of my 3door coupe, less the engine and trans swap. The body work is much more work than with the 3door. And as much as i can do to make it nice, it is rusted out to begin with. For something that needed a water pump and a shifter bushing, I will have to take out the whole interior to repair it properly, and swap the manual cranks onto the new doors, etc. More work than i wanted to do, but might as well.
same here!!!!!

started steam cleaning the interior YUCK!!! it was filthy

Was the timing set with the green diagnostic connectors (near the windshield wiper motor) connected? (They should have been.)
Yes
Are they connected now? (They should not be.)
No

Got my 1989 subaru GL Ea82 spfi running after sitting for 3 months. The passenger side cam gear BROKE into pieces on the highway and had to tow it to my parents where it sat in the garage while i replaced the wheel bearings and timing belts etc. Now its running I think the timing might be advanced alittle to far maybe 25 deg but runs good until you give it more than half throttle then it stutters. I have checked the timing marks MANY times and a friend set the distributor to 30 deg with a timing light. I bumped it back a hair but it still is not running right.

good point! I would like to swap out for some stiffer ones still and keep it stock height. maybe get a lift kit but they seem pricey.
-
why not? not intentionally but that is how the back is
-
I had to reroute and tee in my egr because I was not getting any vacuum from the passengers side of the purge solenoid. I will try to get a pic

the nipples broke off!

I have the rear strut/spring swap done, over 10,000 miles on it.. Even after cutting some coils off the back the car still sits 3" higher in the back then front, and the front springs are to soft. I read of some suggestions on other springs that might work ford tempo, etc.... But other members have mentioned the ford tempo springs were to small. I dont want to waste $$ and buy springs that I cant use. Anyone have a front coil spring swap that works?

well its on the front of my throttle body, two lines can hook up
-
hey I wanted to see if I could figure out these vac lines, 1989 ea82 spfi. I removed the Charcoal canister and I cant figure out where the 2nd IAC line should go to. With them both off it throws a check engine light, but with the drivers side hooked up to a vac its dont. I just have the other one venting into the engine bay.

changed the cap and rotor, the old cap was pitted
-
cool now I need to find out if this exhaust leak is causing major loss of low rpm power!
