  1. In my 2005 Baja Turbo Automatic; i was stopped waiting to turn into traffic from a parking lot, my foot on the brake when the engine surged from 800 to somewhere around 6,000 rpm. did not see any idiot lights come on, so I tried to put in in neutral, the rpm went down very briefly but shot right back up. I then had the presence of mind to shut off the engine, waiting a few seconds and restarted. Car ran just fine then. Good thing I had my foot on the brake when it surged. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Anyone hear of a cause? Thanks.
  2. Just approaching 100k. Car is entrirely clean, now wrecks and I do my best on regular maintanance. I sat for 4 months while I was working out of state but it is back to regualr commuting. I have been looking all around but it only seems to put out small amounts of steam. Don't believe it is the front of the car. If it would dribble fluid, I'm sure I could track it down.
  3. Have not been able to see any drips that is what is making it so difficult. All I get is faint steam and I have been unable to trace the leak. As a result, I have been having to keep to coolant level topped off. It doesn't leak alot, but this is something I want to stop before it becomes a big problem.
  4. I have an 05 Baja Turbo that has developed a minor coolant leak while it sat for a few months. Once the engine get up to running temp, especially if I have started driving, it will have a bit of steam coming from under the hood on the passenger's side. Of course I have looked for the obvious leak but have been unable to track it down. Get really annoying when I run the cabin fan and smell the stuff. Anyone out there run across any likely spots to check? Thanks All!
  5. Found it! It was shoved way up above the fuse block. Thanks.
  6. I have asked this before so sorry if it seems redundant. In a 2003 Legacy/Baja does anyone know where a remote starter module(?) is tied in? I have looked underneath the dash for anything out of the ordinary and no luck. Just hoping someone out there has had some experience with them. Thanks to all for looking!
  7. Actually I already have an ARE topper on my current Baja. It makes visibility bad and hard to see out the back in the rearview mirror because of the tint in both the rear windshield and topper liftgate glass. I also have a soft tonneau but want something I can lock.
  8. Anyonw know how many different tonneau hard covers there are for a Baja? I am looking to get one (Tacoma, WA area) and would like to know the different makers and features. Any opinions on the different styles voice them here. Thanks!
  9. So where exactly does one find the Banjo Bolt? I am assuming it does in fact resemble a banjo.
  10. Good to know. Anyone know of anything in particular to watch out for?
  11. Anyone know how long you can expect a descently maintained turbo engine to last?
  12. Opinions please. I understand that the Baja turbo models don't get as good gas mileage as the non-turbo models. I understand they are more peppy but wonder if they are more prone to needing maitanence/repairs than non-tubos. Any thought/considerations pro or con. I have a sport model but looking into buying a turbo model. Thanks All!
