  1. Thanks. I found it. Next question: Wat exactly is the fuel temp sender? Alldata says to replace the fuel pump but there are only two wires going to it. There is a sensor buld of some sort separate from the pump and the feul float assy. Is this the fuel temp bulb or is it the low level bulb?
  2. I have a 99 SUS and I'm having a intermittent P0183 code. The alldata diy says to pull the access plate under the seat to t/s. The problem is that I have no access plate. Anybody run into this? BTW, the problems only started when it started getting over 100F here and the car is black.
  3. The bulb socket had some corrosion on the side of the socket. Cleaned it up and it works fine. The funny thing was that it was lighting the wrong filament. The bad ground caused it to look for a ground through the other power wire. Cleaning the socket took care of it.
  4. I changed the bulb and no help. I noticed that it is dimmer than the other side. Has anybody seen this before?
  5. When I use my right turn signal, it blinks more rapidly than the left ONLY when the headlights are not on. When I put them on, it blinks properly. There don't seem to be any bulbs out. Is there a double bulb un one of the housings? 99 Legacy SUS
  6. OK. Long story short. Yanked the motor. It was easy. I took the intake off to get at the torque converter bolts. I had a heck of a time getting the rh intake cam pulley bolt off. I had to use a pipe wrench on the cam. A 1" wrench spun along with heating, freezing, etc. One of the cam cap bolts stripped so I beat on it with a 3/8 and got it off. Anyway, the headgaskets had failed. New ones went on and in went the motor. Test drive and the temp gauge was dancing. After we put on the a/c it got hot. Pulled over and opened the hood. My son didn"t tighten a heater hose clamp properly. Tightened it, topped it off and burped it. Runs good now!
  7. Everything I see seems to say 2.5. I'll find out tonight. http://www.newcartestdrive.com/printversion-review.cfm?Vehicle=1999_Subaru_Legacy&ReviewID=2732
  8. Dumb question - how do you tell the difference between an ej25 and an ej22?
  9. While I have the engine out, what else should be done at this mileage that I would have to yank the motor out again for it it failed?
  10. Hi. I just bought a 99 Legacy with 124k and an overheating problem. I pick it up tomorrow. Thanks to this board, I knew what I was getting into.
  11. I bought it this morning. Motor runs good. I didn't let it heat up. Coolant all over the radiator cap and overflow area. It has a new radiator. Pehaps a good burping is in order? Anyway, I bring it home tomorrow night.
  12. I'm going to look at a 99 Legacy 30yr anniv tomorrow. 126k , auto leather, sunroof, etc but it has an overheating problem. From reading this forum, it sounds like head gaskets. Is $1000 too much to pay for it? What else needs to be done at this mileage while the motor is out? I'm buying it for my son's first car and both of us will be working on it. I'm a fairly decent mechanic and hope to teach my son a couple of things. Thanks in advance.
