  1. I got a new timing belt and checked all the idlers and pullies. I found I put the crank gears for the belt on backwards which allowed it to slip into my covers. I am running with the covers off and no problems yet. I am going to modify the center cover so it easier to take on and off. Cut it in half so it gets around the harmonic balancer without all that work.
  2. I have a driver's side timing belt frazzel fry. The water pump was leaking a little eventually on to the belt. Did that slip it off the gears and fry it? Fresh rebuilt EA82 not a new water pump. I would like to drive it more than 500 miles. Any body have reasons for the timing belt blowing up?
