  1. THose are not my plugs, they were another posters. Yeah I need to check my fuel system
  2. im not sure what you mean by the difference of cutting out or breaking up. I think it may be a combination. as I can rev through it and at around 4500 it runs great. I have also noticed thst it does not do it every time which I think is weird. Got some premium fuel and injector cleaner in the car now so we will see if that helps. How would i check fuel pressure?
  3. So replaced plug wires and plugs and in general the car seems to run better, but problem still exsists. Where the hell do I go now? Any ideas?
  4. good question, i dont know. im thinking it may be a timing issue. how would i check that?
  5. i bought belden premium spark plug wires and ngk plugs, gonna be installing them tonight. I dont know what is next after i install these
  6. It cleans up around 4500 rpm after stuttering at 4000 rpm. I think I'm going to do plugs and plug wires? Should I do them?
  7. I ran the stock one for 6 months and just swapped out the ecu today cuz i got a smokin deal on one. anyway it breaks up at 4,000 but will keep reving than clears up at 4500. I dont undertand what u mean by the speedo and the VSS? please explain
  8. UPDATE!!!! Im very determined to get this fixed as I Have trouble getting up steeper hills as it cuts out at 4000 rpm. The Im using the 2.5 intake manifold as well as throttle body/intake on the 2.2 motor. dont know if this makes a difference. So far this is what has been replaced- Fuel Filter ECU (replaced the 2.5 ecu with a 2.2 ecu) Knock Sensor any other ideas? Could it be the VSS wire? Again there is no CEL Please help!!
  9. SO I have recently swapped a 2.2 into my 1998 legacy Outback. After the swap I replaced the knock sensor as it was throwing a code. Ran much better after that was replaced, however the Car cuts out very bad at 4,000 rpm, however it does not cut out in first gear and im able to rev it to the moon in first gear. Any ideas on what this problem could be? FWI it did this before the sensor was changed as well.
  10. Is the knock sensor related to any of the other problems im having?
  11. Two weeks ago I bought a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback 2.5 with 193,000 miles. I put around 30 miles on the car and the head gasket blew. (car overheated and there was oil in the coolant). Yeah i got screwed. Since then I have put a 2.2 single overhead motor in the car. The swap was simple and the motor runs great. However the motor seems to be shifting at weird RPMs (AT) and whenever I lett off the throttle or brake to slow down it does not shift down and RPMS drop to 800. I dont know if it did this before the swap since I only had the car for a day. Also when im driving and the motor is under a load it cuts out at around 4200 RPM ( like its hitting a rev limiter) Sometimes it just does it a little and then will keep revving to 6000 rpm. any ideas on what could be the issue. The CEL light is on due to the knock sensor which I was told was due to the swap to the 2.2 from the 2.5. Any input would be great Thanks
