  1. I really wish I would have kept that crap 95 legacy the motor on that thing was MINT. I think it was redone at some point.
  2. I herd the engine run and I drove it last year so I know it's fine.. And the motor has no blow by.Plus rebuilding a engine is above my head. How would I go about plugging the hole in the cylinder head?
  3. They already sold the transmission so the y pipe is off. I think I saw it in the back..I sort of hate to get a motor with a egr valve if I can help it. But for 200 dollars I guess it's worth it. And I already bought a oil specator plate from when I was doing the transmission. the only reason i did not put it on was it already had the metal pate..Sucks 3 of the screws are sized on it or I just reuse that
  4. It's not leaking the oil. The only oil leak it had when I got it was the valve cover gaskets and I replaced them and this thing smokes like a bat out of hell. I also replaced the pcv valve because I thought it was the problem with no change.
  5. Hey I had a question for everyone. So the ej22 in my 96 outback 5 speed is shot burns a quart of oil every 300 miles. So I went to the junk yard and I found a ej22 from a 95 legacy automatic for 200 dollars (i need to pull it myself). The only thing is the 95's has a egr valve and mine does not. So can I just switch the intake from my's 96's on to the 95 and be done? or is there more to it then that? Thanks everyone
  6. Thank for reminding me on the service manual I am going to look for one right now...Also if me and my buddy pulled off the trans this weekend and this trans is in fact a 3.90 and the trans is fine it's the clutch that blew up
  7. Hey I had a quick question for everyone I just found out the motor on my 96 legacy outback 2.2 is old smokey...There is a motor from a 95 legacy 2.2 at the wrecking yard would it work in my 96?
  8. hmm That's interesting. You think my outback would have a outback trans not a legacy trans.Well I am glade you pointed me in the right direction because I was just about to buy that transmission because I herd all 96 legacy outback had 4.111 gearing.....It must have been a special order or something.
  9. It has the 2.2 my bad I should have posted that.It also has a clutch cable
  10. Well now I am confused. is it 3.9 or 4.111? I don't want to burn out the transmission by getting the wrong one
  11. From what I herd these 96 outbacks had 2 final drive ratio's 3.90 and 4.111
  12. Hey there everyone. I was hoping I could get some help with finding out what my gear ratio is. Well the story is I pick up this 1996 subaru legacy outback with a bad manual transmission. and I am having the hardest time finding out what my gear ratio is I mean I been looking almost no stop for the last 2 days. The transmission code is ty752vabca and there is a 63 kn31 stamped on the rear diff. I found a used trans for 450 that has almost the same trans code it's just ends with bba will that work? Thanks everyone !
