  1. Actually it turned out that #14 was the correct part to replace. $99 at Autozone Limited Lifetime warranty Part# JA187
  2. Yep, #9 is the part. I called every parts yard in the phone book and only two of them even had any Subarus and even then they didn't know what year they were. I'll go check them out on Saturday.
  3. One is an '85 GL-10 MPFI 2WD and the other is an '87 GL Carb 4WD.
  4. I don't have turbo in either car. And only one is MPFI. Does your recommendation still hold? Is it best to buy remanufactured or off a junker? How much should I let a junk shop charge me if a new one is $215? I'm not sure how often these things die. Thanks for the help.
  5. I have a bad control module or pick-up coil in the distributor(Nippondenso) on my '85 MPFI GL-10 auto wagon. At least Haynes has lead me to believe this is the cause of the car running for only a couple minutes at a time. I have tried visiting and calling around the various "used parts shops" but they keep telling me that I can only use the part from another '85 and they don't have one. I also have an '87 GL 4WD auto wagon. The distributor looks exactly the same except for the leads. For the '85 the leads are ring type and on the '87 the leads are packaged in to a plastic plug. I did some work on my previous Acura but I'm pretty foreign to Subarus and the sheer number of possibilities is killing me. I'm not afraid to modify a little bit but I do want it to work. Or should I just replace the whole distributor and know it will be fixed for a while?
