  1. It didn't start after she added the oil. She drove it for three blocks parked it for 45 minutes. Added the oil and then tried to start it. It didn't. No codes present.
  2. You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. I thank you for your time and patience. 5 stars for you. I will keep you updated.
  3. ....this time. It would have been very coincidental that the belt breaks the moment she added too much oil...because she did indeed add too much oil. Plus, she had JUST driven it three blocks from work and everything was fine. But alas...you are correct sir. I shall check my TIMING BELTS when I have a bit more time. I.E. this weekend.
  4. I do not smell fuel. I do not currently have a way to check the timing.
  5. I already admitted to being a certified noob. The oil pressure when I crank it is indeed zero. I will need to read up on how to locate and remove the covers of the timing belts. What am I looking for whilst observing the rotor while cranking? I greatly appreciate your help.
  6. I recorded the sound it's making in case anyone would like to hear it. It's here: http://soundcloud.com/malcontent13/ 87-subaru-gl-starting-issues
  7. I watched the belts move from the driver's seat and marked them to make sure they had moved.
  8. She put the oil in the correct place. That was the first question I asked.
  9. The belts are all in great condition and spin when I turn the key to start it. Just checked.
  10. When the battery had died before and it didn't want to start it made the usual chugchugchug sound. But now it's more like a wheeeeeeeclick wheeeeeeclick...if that helps you to visualize it at all.
  11. I removed all four plugs and turned the key. It just made the same noise. It isn't a continuous whirring. It stops for a split second and then continues like it's not engaging, but it has never sounded like this before when it didn't want to start.
