  1. Oh...and thanks for the info. Especially the possibility of there being a kit for an engine swap. I'll be doing lots of research here before I actually do any swapping.
  2. I too am going to lift the Brat (OZified 3"/2" kit) and was wondering what else it would take to mount the new wheels/tires. But, I'm prepared if I have to cut the fenders to do so.
  3. Good call!! Done! I hope I'll get some engine swap info from those that have gone through it. I could use any info as I'm new to all of this and I don't want to jump blindly. I'd like to only have to do it once--the right (best) way!
  4. I'm thinking that if I go with an engine swap I'd like to go with a 6-cylinder. Anybody done this? If so, how and what were the results?!
  5. I'm trying to do this as quickly as possible because in the end I know it's going to take alot longer than anticipated. sometimes it's good to be associated with crazy people!!
  6. I'll start there then if I keep the stock motor. I'd still like to find out what others have done for their Brats.
  7. Hey all, This is the new guy in town. I just recently purchased my first Subaru. It is a 1986 Brat. I've wanted a Brat since High School as a project 4by and finally did it. Anyway, the Brat is in pretty good condition and I've already done a few things to it. I had the bed sprayed with a liner from Line-X--turned out great!! I also had a bed extender custom fitted and that turned out very well too. Today it is at the stereo shop having an Alpine (XM radio built-in) installed. I'm waiting for the call saying that it is finished. I've purchased some pug 15" wheels from a place on the east coast and am expecting them anyday now. I'm trying to get a lift kit from pkdavis (3"/2") but haven't had any luck to this point. The plan is to put BFGoodrich 215-75R15 tires on the wheels and bolt 'em on after the lift is installed. Next I need to do something with the motor. That's where the questions begin--do I rebuild the stock 1.8 or do I do an engine swap? If I rebuild the stock motor how much horsepower can I realistically get out of it without being too outrageous (on the modifications)? If I do an engine swap what do I swap to that won't require outrageous modifications? I'd like to keep it fairly simple. Anybody have any suggestions/recommendations? Let me know--I'm open to any suggestions especially if it comes from personal experience (and even if it doesn't).
