I Don't trust them.

Where in PA are you?
south west pa

Anyone else with any ideas? I'm getting no where with my local folks.

My local tire place sells replacement steelies at $29.00 ea, next day shipping included. 'Corse Subaru IS the unofficial state car in NW Montana.
Do they have a web page perhaps?

Tire Rack has 16x6.5" steelies for $49 each. Any big place that sells tires should have regular steel wheels available too though. You'd think that Subarus would be common enough in PA that someone would have wheels for them.
You'd think, but the cheapest i have locally is about 85 bucks a rim.

I'm working on getting myself a set of winter tires for my 04 outback. Tires don't seem to be a problem, have my choice of like 8 brands. I just can't find any rims anywhere!
The only place is my local subaru dealer, and they only have the ones off the floor for about 150 each. This will not work.
I've done searching and what not, and i can find all kinds of rims that would work, but they are all for those who want to trick out their vehicals, hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
These are going to be winter tires, they just have to fit, i don't care if they look like crap, they just have to be on.
Any suggestions?

14" won't fit an Outback, but extra rims is a good idea. Keeps the alloy wheels nice, no salt or other chemical exposure.
If you want a good tire, Blizzaks seem to be the choice. They just wear tread faster than most, so a set of extra rims will come in handy if you want to change out if winter starts or ends sooner than expected.
The stock all-weathers will get you through almost any situation for the occasional early or late snows.
I should have mentioned that I was going to get rims, oops ) I'm not really worried about the sooner wear down. I really don't put that many miles on.
Seems a Blizzak shopping i will go.

Well, we're getting to that time of year when the snow may be flying. I'm in month 4 of owning my 04 outback, and am starting to think snow tires. Some local folks I have talked to swear by the all weather's that came with it. That may be alright for them, but i'm a bit more willing to get myself into interesting situations than most (some for needed reasons, some for selfish fun reasons ) And i'm in a little bit of a different location from those folks, and the road treatments arn't exactly quickly forthcomming.
Well, what are the opinions on snow tires? Any issues out there that i need to know about? This is my first subaru. I have a caravan in the little fleet here, and i put Blizzaks on it last year, and the winter here was really ugly last year and it worked well.
So, whats the verdicts?
Thanks!

I certainly can be a chooser, expecially considering the gravity of the situation. Would hate to have this much money go down the crapper!
I'm most likely going to go with the allsubaru.com folks.
