  4. fluid level is fine. the trans will hold gear while it is whining but once the whining stops the trans lets go. btw northern or southern ky?
  5. yes I made sure the torque converter was seated. the trans worked flawless till I parked it yesterday.
  6. 1992 legacy fwd automatic. I put a trans in it over the weekend and it worked fine. I parked it yesterday and this morning. it started whining and now the car will move for a few seconds then lose all gears. full of fluid and no burnt smell. unplugged the dropping resistor and started it and the whining was worse. any ideas?
  7. it is my wifes first car, and I would get divorced if I scrapped it. I put it in the barn till I decide if I'm going to chance a used trans or rebuild this one myself.
  8. the cel light has been on for years. trans light not blinking and the fluid has a burned smell, so thinking the trans is trash.
  9. 1992 legacy L fwd automatic. I was driving down the highway and it down shifted to 3rd. now all i have is 3rd and reverse. pulling the shifter back to 1st and the car wont move like it is in reverse and forward. no 2nd or 4th gear. any ideas?
