Possibly it is in 'valet mode'. Re-check your manual or try looking up some of the model specific alarm info at
you are a genius
thank you

car = 2004 outback wagon
issue = as of today my security light ( the one under the speedometer )
is flashing in pulses of two repetitions.
i.e.; flash flash.......... wait a second..........flash flash.....etc
this only occurs when the key is not in the start or run position. any time the key is off, or out of the switch it flashes.
other associated behavior = i've turned off the annoying " chirp " to signal lock engage / disengage, but now the parking lights don't flash to signal same.
no mention in the manual of what the two pulse flash means.
it seems to have occured with me having tried to lock the doors / set the alarm when the tailgate was still open.
I've cycled the doors / locks several times and have tried disconnecting the battery, but the flash flash persists.
any ideas on how to reset this?
thanks

will anyone recommend a vendor for soft front brake pads?
soft as in softer / faster wearing but creating more braking force for a guy that drives his subie up and down the road at ALTA and is not happy with his recently refurbished brakes. he wasn't happy before the brakes were redone either, so it's not a mechanical "screw-up" issue.
wagon + roof rack + ski box + people = heavy load for stock brakes to decellerate.
the car is driven ~ 6K a year so wear is not much of a concern.
thanks

Hi
stock tire size = 205 / 55 X 16 for a 2002 GT wagon.
it's new tire time and i want to buy something that will fill the wheelwells a bit more and want to know if any of you definatively know if a 215 / 60 X 16
or a 225 / 60 X 16 tire will cause any issues with check engine lights or speed sensors or ??????????????????
yes,
i know that they will physically fit
and
that they will offer lesser handling performance
and
the sub. dealer says "no way", you'll kill it.
the larger tires add 1.0" and 1.3" greater diameter respectively.
thanks

06 turbo gas mileage, why so low!
in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Posted
is the 06 wagon gas mileage "real world mileage" really only 24mpg HWY ?????????????????
assume the 2.5L turbo / 5 speed auto combo.
is the low EPA rating a function of gearing / auto tranny ?
or
do they assume more spirited driving which reduces mpg?
i usually get 28mpg hwy on an 04 outback 2.5L / 5 speed manual.
yes, call me granny
thanks
