  1. It was the fuel filter, thanks for the advice!
  2. 1989 GL Wagon 1800cc. At about 50 miles per hour, the car suddenly started lurching (like a new driver in a manual). The first time it happened was down hill. I put it in neutral revved it a few times and it continued okay. Later it happened again, but this time going up hill, so I did not have the luxury of coasting for awhile. I had to creep up the hill in first gear with it lurching the whole time. I pulled over and let it idle for a minute or so. Then I drove in the slow lane babying it all the way in, with no further drama. It was strange, as I drove it all week-end on steep windy mountain roads, with no problems at all. Any ideas???? thanks, Jason
