  1. well I've been away for a few years now. I decided to try out the BMW side of things, yes their quite the car. But subaru was my first...90 legacy w/ 273000 miles when sold (after the deer incident), and a 98 Legacy GT, which I really didn't think was that great... I need input- I've read the reviews on the WRX & Sti. I need actual owners opionins about reliability as a daily driver. I'm in upstate NY, 2 hrs south of Canada and 1 hour west of Vermont, so we get snow... Can anyone give me their 2 cents on these cars??? I'm in the market as soon as I sell mine... for instance- I saw a 04 Sti with 16,000 miles on it, "older" owner going thru mid life thing... wants 27500... Is this a good deal? Are thier any subaru car clubs/ Wrx Sti clubs? any places you can get discounts on parts? As a member of the BMW CCA we got 25% off parts at "some" dealerships and 10% off on labor. Thanks for any advice in advance
  2. Yup, I noticed the spool up (lag time) on the turbo, but I try to avoid autos whenever possible. The 5-spd has a very quick ratio- AND you can get the short shifter STI version as an option...with momo knob...Though to me function comes before looks. It also has a dual mass flywheel which I really do not care for- I've got this on my 328is...hate hate... solid sprung gives better feel. IMHO. But overall this thing (kept in the high 2K RPM range) ROCKED... My daily drive right now is a 98 328is 5-spd and after that test drive I was really impressed. I wish that it had more down low grunt as well...
  3. I just test drove the 05 Legacy GT and WOW, I was very impressed. This is what my 98 GT should have been like!!! Has anyone else got a chance to try it or own this one? Any good/ bad issues that have been discovered? Thanks! kutch former owner of a great 90 legacy and a not so great 98 legacy GT...
  4. OK, I've been out of Sube' land for about 5 years now. ya ya I know, I just had to try other things out... I've owned a 90 legacy of which went 273,000 miles...And times it had to go to the dealer I could count on one hand! I then bought a 98 legacy gt and when told by the dealer that the excess engine clatter was designed in, lets just say it was sold within 6 months...So dissapointedly I went to Nissan then Honda, then I picked up a 328is BMW. All this trying out because of the reliability records of the cars. My 328 now has 100K miles on it with hardly a problem, but is it safe to jump back into a Sube? whats with this clutch/ tranny GM thing going on? Has anyone an opionion on the RS vs a WRX? And what about this Sti???? anyone? thanks from the land of BMW.....at least for now...
