HI I drive a 1996 Subaru Legacy (automatic). A couple of days ago I could not start the vehicle. It cranks but does not start. It started ultimately after about 10 minutes. When it started the 'check engine light' also was ON. The code for the light read "cam position sensor". Could that be the cause for the starting problem? I had replaced the starter and engine temperature sensor 2 weeks ago. Does it have anything to do with that? Thanx

Hi I have a 96 Legacy (automatic). It has 119,000. When I start driving it initially there is a jerk when it moves from gear 1 to gear 2. The jerk seems to be less for all other shifts. What does this mean? The magnitude of this jerk is reducing throughout the day. At the end it is unnoticeable. Please let me know what could be wrong

dumbs replied to dumbs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI was able to get it to pep boys and the code it generated was P115 - engine coolant temperature sensor. Would that help in anyway to solve the problem? Thanx for the quick reply

Hi I bought a 1996 Subaru Legacy a week ago. It has 118k miles on it. The car runs smooth. A couple of days after I bought it the check engine light went ON. The I started having starting porblems. The engine cranks but does not start. If I try to start again the same thing happens. After a couple of trys it fails to crank too. All I could hear is the "tak" sound. (I guess the battery gets discharged) I give it some time and then I try it starts (sometimes in neutral) This happens once in a while and there is no pattern to it. After a car wash it would not crank too. It just gave me the "tak" noise. I put it to neutral and it started after repeated tries. The battery is new and the headlights were working fine when I couldn't start. Can anyone help me?
