I have MSD coil, wires, and ignition. Is it worth it to put in the ignition... or just use the coil and wires.

I just purchased my first running Subaru... A 4wd 83 GL wagon. It runs ok...Kind of peppy with decent gas milage (about 26 mpg), however it has kind of a sporadic idle, it also has a strong sulfer smell about 2 min after I start it up in the morning. Any thoughts or suggestions on the smell and/or the idle would be great. Also any thoughts on putting in an MSD ignition. Thanks, Alan
