My 06 OBW has just over 22,000 miles on it. Over the last three service trips to the subaru dealership they have noted that the tires are "cupping". they have tried to fix and adjust this with an alignment and rotation under warranty. The service manager claims that the tires must go because of severe cupping. He says that SOA will pay for 2 of the tires under warranty but I have to pay for the other two. Is this fair? Should they not pick up the cost of all 4?

Thanks to all of your input. I will update you on what I do. I am going to pick up a used 07 impreza today.

After searching around for a bit i could not find an answer to my upgrade question. Let me compare this to a Land Rover since that is what I have worked with. If you want to add seat heaters in a Rover you purchase the seat heater switch, pop the plastic piece off your dash and install. instantly you have seat heaters, obviously they were pre-wired. You can do this with pretty much any accessory you want, fog lights, cruise, etc, etc. My question is can you do this with the newer impreza, I looking at buying a used 05-07. The possible upgrades that I would like to do are seat heaters, Auto dimming mirror with home link, and fog lights. Thanks in advance for your input.

What is the VIN and what do you want to know about the car? I just opened up a 1 month subscription since I'm doing some car shopping of my own.
Thanks. It is clean..that is as clean as it can be for a used auto...

I have done a little homework shopping for my next Subaru, but I wanted to get an outside opinion on price. A couple of dealers in Arizona have 05 OBW XT left over (premium package no navigation). If it is a clearance price what should it be? I know that list for the few I saw were between 33k-35k. Thanks

I take a different angle that the others on this issue. Alloy wheels microscopically crack over time. This can lead to the releasing of air through these cracks. If you have a shop that inflates tires with nitrogen have them fill it up. You may notice that the problem will go away. Costco (the wholesale store) uses nitrogen to inflate their tires in most areas. It is no secret that nitrogen is used in tires for NASCAR, airlines, and NASA. Larger molecule=no leak or slower leak......

I agree that the problem is most likely due to worn solenoid contacts. You can purchase replacements for around $10 dollars I think.
Replaced the solenoid contacts and it is good to go. Thanks. Really Easy to do also.

I have a 98 Legacy GT and I am a novice at best. My starter is dead and gone from what I gather. Is this a job that I can take on? I have access to the Hayes manual to guide me...If not, recommend a local shop in South Phoenix/Central Phoenix.

I have a 98 Legacy GT wagon that had a tire blowout on the highway last week. In my reading I have found conflicting information on tire replacement. Some people say that you need to replace all four tires on an all wheel drive vehicle, and others say that you only need to replace two. Second, Subaru only recommends the tire size of p205 55R16 (H rated) is there another more common size that I could sub in the future? Any advice? Thanks

I have a 98 legacy wagon also with the stock deck. Just hit the direction button (top right) this should solve your problem as long as a signal is coming through. It could also be the brans and type of adapter...
Whats up folks? This is my first post at USMB.I have a factory stereo system in my 98 Legacy wagon and it is finicky about accepting my cd-cassette adapter for my Mp3 player. I push the cassette part into my player and sometimes it kicks into tape mode, but most times it ejects the adapter.
Has anyone else had this issue? Would it be something that a thorough cleaning could fix? Could it be an inferior CD adapter?
Thanks.

already done the wire thing, I will look for the "dry gas" thanks
It worked out, I have never had that problem thanks!

Maybe they don't sell it in AZ but the substance is called
"Dry Gas"
Basically isopropyl alcohol
You may also want to look at the sparking plug wires

I think it sounds like water in the gas
how much fuel was in the tank while you were gone?
It was about 1/4 of a tank. We just got hit with a huge thunderstorm and it was sitting outside. how do I deal with the water if that is the problem? Thank for the reply!

I am new to the USMB never posted. I was on vacation for two weeks and came back to my 98 legacy 2.5 (111000). The first time that I started it, it started a little slow. Two days later as i am driving home the car choked when i accelerated quickly or if I got to about 25-30mph. It did not die, it just did not want to accelerate. I pulled over, put it in neutral and gave it a little rev... again it sputtered/choked/or whatever you call it, it did not stall/die. Any ideas what this is? My first guess was the fuel pump. Let me know what you think.

Coming from the Phoenix area it was really a necessity. I now live in the Seattle area. I am a big fan of tint and recommend it. I remember paying around $200 at the subaru dealership when i bought the car new a year ago. I recently purchased another car in the N.W. and the tint cost me $250 (had it done in Phoenix on a trip). Find a reputable tint shop that has a good track record. If you need to check the BBB. good luck!
