  1. I have an entire long block, pulled from a 1990 Legacy complete with intake, alternator, PS pump, AC compressor, engine sensors, wiring, motor mounts etc. Basically everything to just "drop it in the car" but not exhaust or flywheel/flex plate. Does anyone know the approx weight of this configuration? (for shipping purposes). There is no way I can hold it while standing on a bathroom scale...
  2. the 2WD worked fine in the car it came out of...
  3. further to topic http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum...ead.php?t=29820 my friends mechanic installed my 1991 2WD auto tranny into his 1991 AWD Auto Legacy. The transmission only works in first gear and reverse. Has anyone done this transplant? What is the secret? He tried the FWD TCU in the AWD car and it doesn't help the situation either. stumped.
  4. ok, so the TCU was changed to a FWD TCU in the AWD car. Transmission still only works in low gear and reverse. Any other suggestions?
  5. further to topic http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29820 my friends mechanic installed my 1991 2WD auto tranny into his 1991 AWD Auto Legacy. The transmission only works in first gear and reverse. Has anyone done this transplant? What is the secret? Does the 2WD TCU need to be installed into the AWD car also? Any other electrical or mechanical modifications needed?
  6. I know someone with a dying AWD auto tranny on a 1991 Legacy. I have a 2WD auto tranny from another 1991 legacy. The other person doesn't need AWD. Will my 2WD tranny fit his car? Is there anything special to do in order to make the swap and make his car a 2WD Subaru ? (other than "don't put the driveshaft back in") One more thing, his car is Right Hand Drive (postal vehicle) but it is a US model.
  7. Nevermind, I found this helpful page: http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/bcstereo/
  8. Hi, I pulled the Panasonic factory cassette/radio out of dead 1990 Legacy to install in another vehicle....I like the fact that it has an "aux" input for iPods etc. I grabbed a foot or so of the Subaru wiring harness, but need some help to figure out which wire is which. Can anyone translate the subaru colors to standard lingo? (i.e. power, left front speaker etc)
  9. Hi Shawn, can you elaborate on your air cooled Vanagon conversion? Everything looks straighforward except the cooling system scares me. Was it hard to install a W/C vanagon rad into the air cooled vanagon? What about the VW electric rad fan? Did you use it? Did you install a w/c heater up front? How about under the rear seat? If you had to do it again, what would you do differently?
  10. A swap was performed today. FYI; Rear door from a 90 Legacy sedan fits perfectly on a 90 Legacy wagon. but the door window glass in the sedan door is a little bit smaller than on the wagon. Glass had to be moved from the dented door into the replacement door.
  11. Does anyone know if doors from a 1990 Legacy 4 door Sedan will fit on a 1991 Legacy wagon? If so, which ones are interchangeable?
