  1. Ok, have digital meter, from strut mount (body) to Negative Post on battery we are getting 12.6 volts dc. From Positive post to positive cable its also 12.6 volt. Battery post to post is 12.6.
  2. Put a meter from pos terminal to pos cable, not sure about the milliamps. Watched the needle and went through the fuses. Only fuse that made a difference was the, Horn/Clock/Hazard. It zeroed out when pulled. Pulled off alternator main, jumped a little but nothing significant, hooked up other to wires to alternator and it pegged the needle.
  3. Have the wrong darn manual, covers the rest, but not XT6. Need to get one off Ebay I guess, anyways, been driving it, still has a couple problems to narrow down. We scratched our heads and tried everything to find that short to no avail. For now, I have disconnected the two wires (black and Green I think) that has been feeding back. Seems to be charging but not like it should be. Also been unhooking battery at night.
  4. Subaru is running!!!!! Been sitting for almost 3 years, two engines, new exhaust, new alternator, injectors cleaned, new battery, and the thing that was wrong with it.....$170.00 Mass Air Flow Sensor! Thanks for your input John, I still believe it is shorting out somewhere, but it is running properly. I was told it was the IAC, but it was the MAFS. Still working on short.
  5. After spending $1,000's last year trying to get my XT6 running again, we are just about there. After putting a new engine in, it still is doing the same thing it was doing before. Car won't Idle, and I think we have it narrowed down to Mass Air Flow Sensor, will find out this afternoon after spending another $170. Just bought a new alternator and installed it. Had problems with headlights one night, dim, not popping up, and the battery drains over night. Unplugged most of the wiring harness, checked fuses, and now getting feedback to alternator, melting black wire with white stripe. Furthermore, if you disconnect the negative post on battery, clamp/ground test light to body and touch negative post, light comes on which means there is a short to the body or engine showing about 9 volts. Any suggestions?
  6. What is the easiest way to post photos here? Have all my photos on facebook and photobucket. The only internet I have right now is my phone. It would be easy if I could just post them from my phone.
  7. Worked on the XT6 today and said heck with it and drove it to the gas station to give it a drink. Bought it 2 shots of 93 octane pure gasoline. Then straight to the car wash for a much needed shower. Now back in the driveway until I can get it running better. It was so nice just to drive it again.
  8. Have plenty of Photos, give me some time and will get them loaded. Nice to meet you all!
  9. Thanks! I have located a few XT's in Florida. Most of them are up in Washington area though. There are a few around here in Junkyards. I picked up my 86 XT off Ebay for $700, the guy told me it had been sitting for 10 years when I got it and it has been sitting for another 4. Definitely shows, the interior is shot, air suspension bags are suppose to be bad. Will post pictures once I figure out how of both my cars.
  10. Your right, the South is not Subaru country. That is what makes me a little unique driving the only XT6 I know of in Chattanooga, TN. You see Outbacks and Forrester's but no old school Subarus here. I have had so many comments on my car, people taking pictures and have been pulled over three times, supposedly for my tint. I just think they wanted to look at the car. People freak out here if it snows a half inch let alone 6 inches when I am blowing passed them in my Subaru laughing.
  11. Hey all! Been coming across this message forum for years now and have gotten some good advice looking through your threads. I guess you can call me a Subaru for life person. Grew up in Truckee, CA. And my 2nd car was an 81 GL wagon, and then an 82 GL. Drove and beat them to death, and learned how to work on them too! They were the best cars in the snow. Bought an 87 XT coupe a few years later, and loved it up until I blew the engine and the mechanic that put the new one in screwed it all up. Now that I am grown up, about 4 years ago I decided to purchase another and was amazed how hard they are to find, and in decent condition. I found one on the internet in Seattle, WA. And flew my 4 year old son, at the time, and drove it back cross country for 2 weeks to Chattanooga, TN. The memories and the car are priceless to me. Went to the Golden gate bridge, saw all my old friends in Ca, Nv, Co, the Grand Canyon, Hover Dam... Great trip in a great car. Well, its been broken for the past year and have been dumping tons of money into it. So you will see me around trying to find parts and meeting you all! I also have an 86 XT Turbo coupe, looking for another to make one. Talk at ya laterZ.
