  1. What would be the simptoms of purge control valve failure?? Now, I am getting code 35 which is this sensor and car runs rough. The idle speed (on my '93 Loyale) fluctuates between 1000 and 1100 RPM and just after driving goes to above 2000 RPM and drops to 1100 RPM . Also, there is some bad smell from exhaust. Is the problem with idle becouse of the failure of this sensor or can be also something else? Thanks.
  2. My '93 Loyale just died. Probably I did lot's of wrong things. First, it was idling rough so I replaced PCV valve, spark plugs, fuel pump, wires, distributor cap and rotor but nothing helped. It was idling at 2000 RPM and after that would drop to 1100 RPM. Also, it would run rough. The diagnostic check was giving me the code 35 - purge control solenoid valve. I checked the valve using instrument and it would give first an infinite resistance but after couple of minutes would give 39 ohm which is ok according to book ( but I still don't know why was giving open circuit at very beginning - I repetad this test twice). I was still thinking that the timing is wrong so I tried to set the timing at 20 degrees but the car would not start. I took distributor off so I kept changing the position of the rotor and finally I could start the car but was still running rough. How can I adjust the distributor in relation to timing marks?? I did not stop just on that - while I was using a wrench on camshaft pulley to allign the timing marks, I forgot about the wrench and cranked the engine- that was a big BANG. The bolt holding the pulley went off as well as the belts on alternator and A/C. I tried to adjust belts but now the engine shakes, runs poorly and dies. Did I damage the timing belts?? What else I could do wrong?
  3. Thanks - I found two connectors under the hood, close to firewall, one is green and one is white. When I connected the white one, I got few different codes so that should be the memory connector. The green one connected gives just code 35 which indicates the purge solenoid. The car runs rough but I found on one topic that this solenoid does not affect too much drivebility so the problem might be something else??
  4. I can't locate the test mode connector and read memory connector. In the manual says that the both connectors are located close to ECU and that the test mode connector is green and the read memory connector is black but I just found one 4-wires green connector on the left of ECU. Can you please help me to locate this connectors? How many wires they should have (and what should be the colour of the wires) and how I can locate them? Thx
