  1. I guess you're right - it is more like a "click" than a "clunk". Its just that it gets muffled by being buried in the dashboard somewhere that it kinda sounds like a "clunky click". Good idea about removing stuff from the glovebox - I'll also make sure everything else is secure too. Maybe something is just sliding around. I only seem to hear this when I first begin moving forward after starting the engine though. Again, this is just a curiosity, not a problem. Thanks, JDW
  2. Are you sure that you are cutting it very close based upon how much fuel you put into the tank? I'd do a test - carry a few gallons of gas around until you actually run out - see if the light comes on. JDW
  3. Hi Jamie, It is not each and every time, but over the weekend running errands I heard it about 3/4ths of the time. It is not loud, you have to listen for it - it sounds like a relay closing, and happens after I've traveled ten feet or so forward. My guess is that it is something related to the cruise control, or the airbags, or ??? Jonathan
  4. My '03 Legacy wagon makes a clunk when I first move forward after starting the engine. It sounds like a relay closing, perhaps located behind the glovebox. What is this? Just curious. JDW

  6. I had a similar problem in my 94 Legacy (2.2 liter, MT). The engine would shut off when I was coasting in neutral. No check engine light came on. I mentioned it the the dealer during a routine service. They couldn't get it to happen, but they checked a half a dozen things, found nothing wrong. But they did say that sometimes the "idle air control" valve (I think that's the name), gets gunked up and can cause this. So they cleaned it and the problem was solved. Didn't charge me anything either!!! Maybe that's your problem. JDW
  7. Thanks! I feel kinda stupid for not seeing this myself. I just never would've guessed that there would be an articulating joint at the windshield end of the arm! I adjusted it and it is better - probably good enough to not want to go through anything more serious. Jonathan
  8. Thanks for the replies! You're right - I going to check how that affects the view out the rear window before I do it. I was hoping that the mirror attached to a base that was glued to the windshield - then I could just remove the mirror (leaving the base), and attach the mirror to another base glued higher on the windshield. Looking at the mirror, I wasn't able to tell if there was a separate base or not. Anyway, it isn't worth potentially breaking the windshield, so maybe I'll get a pro to give me a quote.   9. Is it relatively easy to move the mirror on the windshield? I sit kinda tall in my 2003 Legacy wagaon, and the mirror is right at eye level - creating a blind spot in my vision. I was thinking of moving it up a few inches, and have the following questions: How would I remove the mirror - I assume that it is attached with some adhesive? How would I reattach it? And I want to reattach it in the area of the windshield with the black pattern on it - should I scrape that off with a razor blade before reattaching it? Thanks, Jonathan
