  1. can anyone describe the code 42 and how the clutch circuit works? thanks
  2. Oh I forgot to mention the only thing it failed was high CO at the 2500 rpm range everything else was good. Like it was running rich. anyone got any ideas?
  3. I just bought an 86 carb'd 4x4 wagon. it failed emissions and I ran the codes. 42-clutch switch and 52 selenoid valve. I have dealt with the EGR system before so I assume it is the valve being shot. I was wondering what the clutch switch or circuit does and would it effect emissions. Thanks in advance.
  4. I am thinking o2 sensor. same symptoms on my ea82. once I changed it no more jumpy throttle
  5. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the microswitch on the 4wd shifter in a 86 gl is for. I figured it would be to the 4wd indicator in the dash but this is not the case. nothing in the books I have. Thanks in advance.
  6. do it yourself its too easy. two bolts after you pull the door panel, and the window slides right out.
  7. O.K. so anyone following this thread, here is the final outcome. The headlight relay under the dash was spent. apparently this links to the rear running lights, the dash lights, and the headlights, as soon as i replaced the relay everything was back to norm. Here is also a strange coincidence, my driver side rear door would not lock when activated from the driver door. Now it works great??? Interesting working on these for the first time. I am a jeep man but siked to have a cozy rig that's quiet and the wifey likes to ride in it thanks to skip and hops "I got er done"
  8. light terminals are clean , tomorrow I will get a voltage reading, but my guess is the front will read 3.5 volts like the rear running lights
  9. All the connections look good and as for the headlight it is brand new, when switched to the other side it works great
  10. Just bought a 91 loyale, someone before me tried to wire a trailer light directly into the rear left light fixture. Tore out that wiring and rewired to original. Here is the symptoms: All rear lights work except for the running lights which are only getting 3.5 volts (per meter) The rear wiper does not work but the pump does.(related?) Also the left headlight only runs dim with no change on bright while the right headlight is normal I do not have a good schematic but from looking on the net have found possibly relays for the headlights, and the rear signals any info, ideas, or shop knowledge would help Thanks
