  1. Thanks ocei77, have the OEM gasket. Tried a plastic scraper, didn't get much off. Didn't think of the gas and the green scrub sponge. Just being super cautious, haven't done work like this before. Plumbing Guy
  2. I'm changing the water pump on my '97 Impreza OBS, 2.2L, 5MT. I have the pump off, but the gasket material stuck to the block and pump, kind of split apart. I'm having trouble getting the surface clean. New pump so that part is easy. Any good way to "scrape" the old gasket material off without damaging the aluminum surface? I'm kind of wondering if someone replaced it before with a paper gasket and some type of sealant. I did a search and haven't come up with anything addressing it. A couple of YouTube videos show the pump coming off clean, certainly not in my case! Any ideas? Thanks
  3. Okey Dokey, sounds like like I don't have to worry. Thanks for everyones input.
  4. So, I have a '97 Impreza Outback Sport, 5MT. When I jack up the car using the front jacking point under the engine, the passenger side front tire leaves the ground before the drivers side. When the drivers side tire finally clears the ground, the passenger tire is about one inch off the ground. I'm thinking maybe a bad strut/spring? Almost forgot, I know the car was in an accident involving the front end passenger side, before I bought it. Everything looks straight, panels have even gap, etc. I haven't noticed any funny handling. What do you think? Time for new struts and springs. Thanks for any input.
