  1. ok I found the problem. very small tear in one of the small vacuum lines that went to one of the tees, could barely hear it? leaned out the carb and caused the car to stumble under acceleration. we are good to go now. Thanks for all your help everyone i really appreciate it.
  2. Ok thanks for getting back to me. Yesterday I got the timing on pretty good. As far as the vacuum advance i tried it by disconnecting it and the car ran worse. so today I double checked it with a vacuum gauge and its working fine, advancing when i pull 5 inch vac. stumped
  3. Hi everyone, New to the forum, and not to experienced on Subaru's. I have this 1984 Subaru GL 1.8 non turbo 2wd with only 20,000 miles on it. that I am working on. When the vehicle first came in to my shop it was hesitating when accelerating from idle and coming to a stop it would stall. I checked fuel and for good spark. The carburator accelerator pump was not squirting when depressing the throttle, so I replaced the carb. The car ran fine, did all the adjustments drove good no more stalling, but I am getting a lag when i am depressing the accelerator from a coast, and from a stand still it has like a hesitation. Carb fuel bowl is above half, and the fuel pressure looks ok the needle moves between 0 and 5 psi at idle and with throttle, but my tester will not go below 5 psi. I am stumped anyone ran into this problem. please let me know. Thanks
